If you are in state, must be the felonies
UGA has been admitting almost everyone over 164. Definitely the felonies.

No! There's absolutely nothing negative or unusual in my application. I did apply a bit late (complete 1/31) and am out of state. Do you really think they'd reject me for that?

I don't think so; I only applied a few days before you and didn't go complete until the 2nd or something like that. I have numbers worse than yours . Look at your transmitted app on LSAC--did you write a different school's name maybe?

I don't think UGA practices it... but YP?

I just checked my application, and it all looks good. I did NOT use another school's name. So confused!

And the #s are THAT high, just high enough that a hold is weird. Although, TBF, end of January is late in the cycle.

Yes, I admit that I applied late in the cycle....BUT it wasn't too late for USC, WUSTL, Emory, or William and Mary. They've all accepted me already with no hold.

Well,I think it is super strange, but those are all great schools so it shouldn't sting too badly.

And this type of thing makes me think YP. Especially OOS and it being late in the cycle. UGA probably thinks you're just going to withdraw.

UGA also accepted a fair amount of high #s OOS applicants very quickly at the beginning of the cycle. All of the other schools listed are private and residency doesn't matter. Perhaps UGA has already accepted their limit of OOS applicants therefore he's been placed on hold until they see how many accept their offers. I wouldn't be surprised if he was accepted at close of business on 4/1 once deposits would have needed to have been made or once people start withdrawing and making other decisions.

Interesting. Actually, William and Mary is public, as well. In any case, I don't expect to get in everywhere. I just wasn't expecting a hold from UGA, particularly since they sent me a brochure and fee waiver unsolicited. And I'm way above the 75th on LSAT and above the median GPA. It actually looks like a great school.

Interesting, I knew that but LSN lists it as private. Either way, W&M put tons of people without auto-admit numbers on an internal hold this cycle which is probably why they have room for late applicants with good numbers.

I'm not trying to be a contrary jerk, haha, I feel like it's coming off that way ... I just meant to say that while a "hold" is unfortunate it's not unbelievable. I'm sure you're at the top of the list. Best of luck and you're right UGA does look like a great school.

For me UGA is certainly a reach (161,3.4)

My status has been "In review" for about a week. This seems like a long time to review an auto reject. Does anyone think I have a shot to get Waitlisted?

Right now I'm kind of thinking that the longer I go without hearing anything the better.

As a side note how does UGA send out rejections. What does it say on the status checker when a reject is on its way?

denied today via status checker. was hoping for a WL. status checker says, "We regret to inform you that you have been denied admission to Georgia Law." good luck to everyone else.

rejected via status checker as well. i figured they gave me the fee waiver to increase their applications, so i wasn't expecting an acceptance, but it was worth a shot. (3.3, 163, non-URM).

I got the "held for further review" note about a week after submitting in mid-Jan., but nothing has changed. I have the same numbers as the last few people who have just been rejected, but I guess it's a good thing I haven't heard anything yet. Anyone know how often they make decisions and whether there certain time they release new decisions each week, or is it completely random?

This. I'm going to have to go on out there to Athens to investigate. Then celebrate. Or commiserate.

My status checker still says my application is ready for review... but I just got an e-mail invite to the reception for admitted students...
Does this mean I'm in?

Thanks :). They still have to eat my GPA and my OOS-ness, but I'm hoping busting over their median/75th LSAT will be enough since they're more of an LSAT school than a GPA school.
