it seems to be known around here that your real decision letter should come very shortly after. i was under the impression they didn't even always send the deferral letters.

if you applied ED but were deferred to RD and did not immediately receive an acceptance, does this mean you are rejected?

If they were going to accept you immediately, why would they defer you?

Last year they deferred all ED applicants who were not accepted ED to RD pool and then accepted them immediately. People found out about their deferrals on the same day they found out about their acceptance.

Dear XXXX:

We have completed review of your application for early admission to our fall 2010 entering class. We commend you for your many accomplishments and appreciate your strong interest in our law school.

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you early admission but will consider your application in our regular admission process. We hope to have a final decision for you in the next four to six weeks.

Thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,
Anne M. Richard
Associate Dean

I'm worried what US News has done to their PT admissions, but hopefully I'll get in. I've wanted to go to GWU for years.

That seems like an odd way to go about doing things... Oh well, haha. If there is one thing I've learned through this process, it is to never be surprised by whatever these law schools do during admissions processes.

right, so then we're definitely assuming a letter of deferral with no immediate offer of admission equals waitlist/rejection?

No, I wouldn't say so. Last year happening is an indication, but not a confirmation. N=1 is a bad sample size.

Hmm, guess we're gonna have to wait and see how they deal with EDs.

Mind if I ask if it went to your current or permanent address (if different), and how far from DC that address is?

They're the same.

I'm on the opposite side of the country ~2,500 miles away. The letter was postmarked on 1/12.

I am in DC, about a ten minute walk from GW's campus, and I received mine today also.

Haha, I keep getting that response I on which address it goes. Thanks though! I guess I should expect mine soon . . .

ED at GWU comes with Full ride scholarship. Acceptance via ED is much harder than acceptance via RD. Most ED applicants will be deferred.

Im in at both BU and GW.

Im trying to decide between the two. Any thoughts, disregarding any of my own preferences?

Basically, I was hoping people could help offer an objective evaluation between the two...

Thanks.

Do you know what field of law you are interested? What programs at each school interest you? Preferences on where you would like to practice after graduation? Total Cost of Attendance for you for each school?

Preferences matter a great deal. I can tell you which I prefer, but that is based solely on my desire to practice in DC in a technology related field, and based on additional funds that I have available to me at one school but not the other.

Hey all, I'm an ED applicant and I got my packet today telling me I was accepted RD and offering me the $30/year + free year of housing at the Aston. So all the other ED applicants should be hearing soon, I would assume.
