RD here. Waitlisted via little envelope dated 12/4. 164/3.5, so not a total surprise, but disappointing nonetheless. Let the games begin, I guess.

Wow. For my sake, let's hope they YPed you. That's very surprising.

Same here. Im 168/3.05. Although I wrote a Why Notre Dame essay, and my personal statement delved heavily into ethics.

For what its worth my numbers are slightly lower than yours so I'd say you still have a good chance. I think they really do put a lot of emphasis on the Why Notre Dame essay as almost everyone accepted with lower numbers seems to have written one.

Thank you for letting me know that. I now have a little more faith about getting in. Notre Dame is my top choice school, and I think my Notre Dame essay really reflected that. I would love to find out soon. I applied RD thought, because I did not like the EA January deadline. Will that hurt my chances at all?

Not sure whether that will hurt your chances. It does suck having to decide by January since I prob. will have at least a couple schools I really like that I will not have heard from. But, I figured that as a really borderline candidate I could use any boost. Now just have to make a decision quicker and with a couple schools in limbo, but hopefully will have heard from most of my top choices by end of Jan.

SHAMWOW!!! I just got into ND. My parents called and said I had a package from ND at their house-NO I dont live with them but my wife and I don't know how long will be at our current rental house and we didn't want any apps to be mailed after we move. Anyway they live like an hour or so away, my wife works at the hospital where they live so she brings home the mail once or twice a week. To make a long story short after getting the call I left the gym covered in sweat and beat down from working out and I drove right to my parents in my gym close. I opened the packet and there it was an acceptance and a 30k scholarship. I have arguably been the most freaked out guy on this thread for some time and now I am arguably the happiest. Congrats and good luck to all.

After following this thread by checking in sporadically through the work day, I was hoping for a decision when I got home from work and checked the mail. I applied a day or two before November 1st but didn't check the EA box. Did everyone who has received a decision so far apply EA? My tls viewing is casual, but I feel like I have seen some none EA decisions too.

Looks that way. Let the fun begin.

To the guy with the 168: I think the WL had more to do with her not writing the Why ND essay than YP. ND loves people who love ND. So if your app reflected that, then I don't think RD will hurt you.

Thanks, I like hearing all of this optimism about Notre Dame. I would be incredibly ecstatic if I get in.

Did you do the "Why ND" essay?

I did. I thought it was pretty strong, too. The 164/3.5 crowd is in a tough spot this year, and I think a retake might be in order for me.

Complete 11/03. I'm surprised my turnaround has been so fast.

I have been point-blank asking people of all age ranges what their perceptions of different schools are, and I think ND's "lay prestige" would carry some serious clout in the film industry. I hope they accept me.

Do you mind sharing when you went complete? I just checked and, as it turns out, I received my "complete" email on 11/6. I'm in Boston and am wondering if there will be something in the mail tomorrow on account of USPS movement timing.
