Are you basing this on the facebook group?

Yes. Facebook = official

Do you think it's a "sign" that were will be absolutely no movement on the WL this cycle?

I just called. They said they are at exactly the number they want (not over enrolled). Unless there are later withdraws or non-deposits on the 10th, they will not be going to the waitlist.

On the bright side, I guess we can at least expect some WL activity. Does anybody know how this compares to previous years? In '09, '08, etc. what was WL activity like at Notre Dame in June?

From my understanding, they only have a handful of people "double-deposited", so unless those people bail or there is WL movement higher up the food chain that causes ppl to leave ND -- they will not be taking people off their WL. With 300-500 ppl on the waitlist, you can do the math. The estimate of 25-50 WL acceptances is HIGH. It's a bummer, but what can you do. We picked a helluva year to apply. Sorry guys.

300-500 on the waitlist?? Oh man. This is bad news.

Don't despair yet. I got off the WL at ND in early August, and I know others that did as well. Hang in there and don't give up hope.

Does anyone believe that #? Do you think it's the number of WL offers they make initially, not how many remain throughout until they actually start pulling off the WL.

They received 3,178 applications in 2009; according to LSAC's older 2008 data, 765 offers made for 179 matriculants from 3,319 applications (newer matriculants in the 2009 profile on the ND website is 186).

If I'm going to believe that figure, I'd say its probably 300.

Last year's data is misleading. According to ND, they had around 4,300 applications this year...I don't need to tell anyone on here that there was a manifold increase of applications and applicants across the board this cycle. Every law school I looked into (T20-50) cited a 20-30% increase in their apps from 2009 to 2010. For example, William & Mary had 4,984 applications last year. They had over 6,200 this year. All the old numbers are out the window. I don't mean to be a "Debbie downer", but it is what it is. With that said, I am going to stay on at ND, but I am planning on very, very long odds.

Haha, nah man, I'm not trying to get you to withdrawal. I'm in the same boat as you and that's why I made it a point to say I'm staying on...The only reason I'm on this board is that people's info on here has been helpful to me. So, when I got info, I repaid the favor in kind. Unfortunately, it's not very uplifting info...

All that being the case, if you're in a position that allows you to stay on and maybe get lucky, why would anyone stop trying? ND Law is the dream, for me at least. All I'm saying is that, according to the numbers, it's going to require a whole lot more luck this year than in years past.

Do you all know if the second deposit is due by the 10th or has to be postmarked by the 10th?

Looks like ND holds all the power in college football again with all this expansion talk.

Yeah because ND knows that they will bring a lot of money to the conference.

Do you think they can afford to remain independent this time around? They're on a downswing

I don't think so. The time is now for them if ever.

Just spoke with heather, she said, "[admissions] should be able to update the wait list candidates of the status of the class by mid-week next week."

:( Another week of purgatory.............................................CRAP!!!

I don't think it will; the forms had to be received by today. I overnighted mine, and they've already processed it... I'd think they'd know by 5:00 how many second deposits they have.

That said, I do believe the class is pretty full. The Facebook group has a large number, and people like myself who are still employed haven't joined (since we don't want our employers to know). But there will still be waitlist activity... there always is. Just be sure to keep in contact with the admissions office!
