I'm choosing to believe the delay in my response means at least they think I'm borderline because people are being accepted/rejected/WLed that applied after me.

No news means whatever I choose! :)

Good luck today! While I didn't find Heather and Melissa to be as congenial and disarming as other Admissions staff, they were nice and the new facilities are beautiful.

Not till June. But they said it is going to be amazing with all the extra space. They put a big emphasis on the Why Notre Dame? essay. Early Decision materials needed to be due tomorrow so they said it would not be to long until they start reviewing those.

I got in on 11/2.

I'll preempt some obvious questions:
*They do not call you. I got an ND packet out of the blue with my acceptance.
*Your acceptance letter will contain your scholarship offer, which will be renewable provided good class standing (this is a big deal; other schools use higher criteria).
*I did apply ED (which means I will have to accept prior to February).
*I did not write the "Why ND?" essay, but I did write a special PS for ND that covered the topic pretty thoroughly (I really feel strongly that this is the better way to do it).

Edit: Sorry if you guys already knew some of that; I didn't go back through every post on all 5 pages.

Just wanna add that I'm totally psyched, and almost at that (cowardly) stage where I'm halfway hoping I'll get rejected from my other strong schools just to make the decision easier.

I have family at Cornell LS, where I may be getting in myself, and I gotta tell you I would still be leaning toward ND (I prefer everything about ND, except for that T14 sticker that Cornell carries on it).

Edit 2: The acceptance packet contains an NDLS rear window sticker for your car; I took everything I had not to put that thing on immediately and withdraw from everywhere else.

Last year I was WLed with a 152/3.82, I have reapplied this cycle with a 165/3.82 and better essays!

I'm still worried about a WL...you think I have a better shot?

No way, dude. You're getting dinged.

Kidding, of course. If LSN is any indication, you're in a good spot. Did you go EA/ED?

Yeah, I went RD, though I wish I had ED'd. I'm going to need to pay them a visit sometime soon.

It is worth the visit just for the chance to talk with admissions. They are friendly and devote an hour block to talk about whatever. From the other day I can say they look for a couple main things.

1) emphasis on ethical code and what it means to you
2) community service in the past and in the future (think legal aid clinic)
3) strong numbers along with good Why Notre Dame essays.

Decisions will start coming out soon for ED followed by RD from what they told me. Also if you try to visit try to go on a day where you will be the only one. I went on an off day for their normal visit and you not only get a more personal touch but helps you stand out more.

Great place, everyone (even the students) went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I would jump at an offer.

Just from your numbers you have a better shot. GPA is right where they like it and LSAT is only one point from the median. Now let me say this. After talking with admissions, they said if you get waitlisted to call them. They will explain what you not only need to do to show you want to be accepted but it seems like they prefer people who are eager and not afraid to give them a call to talk about the situation. They only waitlist early in the cycle to see what other applicant will be coming down the pipe and might have nothing to do with you personally.

Any response from them would be good at this point. I applied to 20 schools so early on, yet none have responded yet. Getting something from ND would at least comfort me to know someone is actually looking at my app.

Depending on when you applied and whether or not it is ED or RD, be on the look out.
