I really think they are hoping that they can sway some of the already accepted people in with scholarship money.Chelios wrote:IMO Fordham is really shooting itself in the foot this admission cycle. The school is not exactly fostering good-will by rejecting or waitlisting so many worthy candidates, especially when the school needs their numbers to continue to climb the USN.
I'd love to go to Fordham (Decision Pending), but if people with numbers far above the school's medians are getting shot down---even when they are Talmudic scholars, people at or near its medians don't stand much of a chance. I wonder how they're expecting to fill their class. Will all of these waitlisted 172's stick around long enough to accept a spot off the waitlist, and will they even want to?
Going waaaaaaay out on a limb and guessing, here.... I think that Fordham got hit with a LOT of amazing EA apps, this year. More than previous years? Who knows - but a LOT of them. My GUESS is that they are accepting a few, rejecting a few... and putting most of these highly qualified applicants onto the Wait List, from which they will put together the class of 2010 sometime, this spring. Maybe I'm just the eternal optimist - I dunno.Chelios wrote:IMO Fordham is really shooting itself in the foot this admission cycle. Oooo - that would be a blow to my happy little theory. I didn't know that. April? Really?RubyDoomsday wrote:but to not even re-examine the EA WLers until April? That's silly.
do you guys have any advice i really wanted to go to fordham with a big scholarshipRubyDoomsday wrote:YP, but I am sure that still bitesmotloe wrote:172 4.0 non traditional (bachelor of talmudic law) just got waitlisted. Im bugging out does anyone have any ideas?
The 172/4.0 surely must be a YP. There is no other explanation unless there was some glaring error in the application. It makes complete sense for Fordham to waitlist this person for the time being.dgb87 wrote:Who knows, maybe Fordham is one of the few schools that really is taking a more holistic approach to their apps and that is why they waitlisted some of the people with amazing numbers! I don't really understand the 172/4.0 waitlist...just seems weird! Good luck to everyone still waiting!
Absolutely write a LOCI now!motloe wrote:do you guys have any advice i really wanted to go to fordham with a big scholarshipRubyDoomsday wrote:YP, but I am sure that still bitesmotloe wrote:172 4.0 non traditional (bachelor of talmudic law) just got waitlisted. No I'm sure they just want to make sure that there is a high probability that you will accept an offer of admission. Send a LOCI.motloe wrote:thanx but do you think its possible that its because of my degree?tram988 wrote:Of course! They are testing you....

CC in Miami but I went to regular undergrad afterwards. I've heard law schools are more wary of BTLs lately though I don't really know why. So in addition to an LOCI I'd go in for a visit just to show that you're just as good as a regular undergrad and allay their (possible) fears. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions...motloe wrote:yfr how about youclem21 wrote:Where did you learn if you don't mind me asking?motloe wrote:172 4.0 non traditional (bachelor of talmudic law) just got waitlisted. You know, I think this (going in) is a good suggestion. Motloe, I would PM OperaSoprano on this one - she did some very effective "office visits" during her cycle in order to convince the AdCom that her degree/path was just as strong as any other candidate's. Best of luck!clem21 wrote:CC in Miami but I went to regular undergrad afterwards. I've heard law schools are more wary of BTLs lately though I don't really know why. For those of you still waiting to hear back EA, are you going to call tomorrow?
