I have a message on my home phone from Fordham, would they call with bad news? I am sure its too late to call them back now. Why they have that number I dont know, every other application has my cell number.

It seems like they are calling with acceptances this week. I haven't heard of anyone receiving call with bad news. Good luck!!

I just tried calling to no avail, they must hit the road at 5pm. I can't believe they would come back with a response this quickly. I guess I can wait another day since its only been 2 months.

I'll be commuting in from NJ.

I'll be rocking the commute from NJ too. I'm not worried though, I've done it a few times and it's never taken longer than 40 minutes door to door. I'm looking forward to a public transportation commute after driving from home to Newark the past 3 years!

I am going to try the commute in the next few days. I haven't done it directly to Fordham during regular commuting time. Here's hoping it doesn't make me think twice about Fordham!

And you are a dollar richer. It was confirmed this morning by my phone call to admissions. I have been accepted to PT. While I am very excited to have gotten in, as I didnt expect it with my numbers, I am not sure I can justify going to Fordham full price over almost a full scholarship at St Johns. It doesnt seem like it is that much of a difference over St Johns, its not like its T14 or even T20. Biglaw is still a crapshoot from either school.

On a side note, what is the point of the status checker if they are just going to call you anyway. Mine still says complete.

I'm pretty sure Saint John's scholarships are conditional on you staying in the top 50% of your class and Brooklyn's are conditional on you staying in the top 40%. Hofstra has a GPA stipulation of 3.2 or something. In my opinion, Saint John's is the best at scholarships of the NY regional schools. That coupled with their recent rise in the rankings and Brooklyn's recent fall, Saint John's is a great choice for many.

Considering my numbers are below the range of the LSN graph and that I am part time and will be working full time, I would wager a guess its more than likely I will be below 50% and that we dont even know the breakdown for PT'ers who dont xfer to FT as it could be even worse for them.

Definitely. Have you taken IBR into account? The fact is, no matter how much you make upon graduation, your payments are capped at 10% of income (well, max cap is 15% but it generally is less than 10%). You're almost certainly going to get a better job from Fordham, no matter where you place in the class. With IBR, I can't understand why anyone would take a scholarship at a significantly lower-ranked school for debt reasons...

The point is, a free J.D. sounds great now, but if you're unemployable at the end, it was just a major waste of time.

I understand your point about being umemployable - that would certainly be a colossal waste of time even if I stayed in my current position after graduation. But 4 years from now, wouldnt I get something decent from St Js if I was top 30%? I understand Fordham is better than St Js, I just dont know if its THAT much better to justify the full price difference, especially when the competition will be harder as well.

The problem is assuming you'll make top 20% at St. Johns. Theoretically, anything's possible--top 1% at St J could maybe be better than bottom 25% at NYU--but you can't think that way, because you have no idea where you'll end up. No matter where you come out at Fordham, you're almost certainly going to get a better job--that's just a fact. Look at where Fordham alumni work.

Again, how do you know you'll make top 30% at St Js? I would be careful with assumptions like that, LS has a way of surprising you.

Agreed, but on that same token, who is to say I will get top 50% at Fordham, which is where I would need to be to get the most benefits of that degree.
