I do have one question for you: Is there any way for the admissions committee members to see other schools students are accepted at?

At this point in the cycle, no. Much later, in June, schools will be able to see if you have multiple deposits in place.

How do schools view someone who has multiple deposits? Do they take action against someone that does that? Can they? I can imagine that a school would not like seeing one of their future students is also another school's future student (as far as deposits are concerned).

I have posted about this before: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=62652 (Deposit Season post)

Obviously schools don't like for admits to have multiple deposits, but there isn't a rule against it. At Illinois our deposits are non-refundable, so you are free to make the decision to forfeit your money. Some schools have language in their deposit agreements that state you are not allowed to have multiple deposits. If you violate that agreement the school may revoke your offer of admission. They can obviously only do this with their own school and those actions aren't binding on any other school. LSAC does not consider this to be misconduct, as they view it as something that has happened post-admission and out of their purview.

It really is a blessing to us that you are willing to come here and answer these questions.

Of course, I'm too [strike]cheap[/strike] thrifty to double deposit anyway.

Haha, that's ok. Basically the character is a bottom feeder and glutton. In this reference, everyone is upset because their stock in the company has tanked and zoidberg only has an unrefrigerated sandwich that he is hoping has appreciated in value. He is very happy that he has invested in the sandwich now because everyone has worthless stock... unfortunately he then eats the sandwich because, well, he eats most everything. I think of this reference when someone mentions being thrifty or financially responsible.

Huge tangent, i know, but i get a big kick out of the show.

A complete sandwich? Ha! You got fleeced! I would have settled for a hard roll with ketchup inside.

The 4gb flash stick is very nice. I really appreciate all the effort from the Illinois admissions department.

Dean Pless,

I was placed on the waitlist last Friday. I was just curious as to whether or not individuals get accepted/denied off the waitlist throughout the course of the cycle, or does this start to happen only after the first seat deposit is due?

Thank you!

The fees include a lot of different things, including, health services, health insurance, student organization funding, access to intramural facilities, bus service, library fee and an LRAP fee. Some are refundable, others are not.

The wait list cycle may begin before our deposit deadline of April 30th. I don't think it will begin much earlier than April 1. I do typically withdraw people from the wait list, but that won't happen until after April 30th.

Dean Pless are this the current figures, or still those in effect for 2009? When is the cost of tuition for 2010-2011 getting posted on the web? And, how do tuition increases affect students already enrolled at the law school? Is there a limit to how much your tuition can increase for the next two years?

Thanks.

Is the law school open on Saturdays? I only have one day to visit, and it's looking like it's going to be a Saturday.

The numbers quoted are from last year. At this point in time we are not anticipating any increase in tuition or fees for next year. We cap any increases at 5% a year for existing students, but we are hopeful that any future increases would be below that.

We don't hold any classes on Saturday, but the building is open and with enough lead time we can arrange for a student (or me) to be around to give you a tour and answer any questions you might have.

I'm flying in to Chicago and taking the train down. It's only $13 each way if you get it at the right time, and it runs a few times each day.
