For those who were admitted, how long did it take you to receive the acceptance package? I've been waiting for two weeks now.

Unless you live in Guam, 2 weeks sounds like a very long time. I am in KS and mine took 4 days. And mail from nowhere more than 180 miles away gets to KS quickly.

It's been a week for me and still no package. I'm sure it's just slow due to the time of year...and due to the blizzard in MN.

I called and asked about mine. They said two weeks was too long to wait, so something must have happened to it. So they emailed me all the important stuff. And it's over two weeks, and I still haven't received the snail-mail copy.

I got my call 12/15 and I never got the packet. Status checker says it got mailed on 12/16, but that is too long without getting it. I'm assuming a batch got lost in the mail. I withdrew yesterday so I'll never know my offer.

Come to think of it, I never received my Minny packet either. I got the call around 12/07, but the darn thing never arrived. I will call them after the break.

Merry Christmas!

For Vets like me:
Out of state tuition=34,726
fees: $6,152 fees (includes health insurance and laptop purchase with technology support)
GI BIll pays: $4,493.86/term x 2 = 8,987.72
Yellow Ribbon pays 50 students (including undergrads, grads, law, etc) $1,000/ yr
VA matches yellow ribbon = 1000/yr

34,726
+ 6,152
=40,878
-10,988

TOTAL = 29,890/yr (assuming no further financial aid.)

BAH= $ 1428.00/month x 36 months (9 per year x 4 while in school, so I can pick up a Masters in Philosophy)

The GI Bill payment part is incorrect. It is not $4,493.86 per term. That is the max they will pay for mandatory fees. It is up to $750 per credit hour per term for tuition, and then in addition all mandatory fees up to the max fees of $4,493.86 per term (this cap is for fees not tuition).

Thanks Cylaw,
I misunderstood what I was reading. That means another 9,000 per semester (for 12 credits) or 18,o0o per year. Since the fees are 3K lower than the max 9K that the army will pay per year the new total roughly estimates to 15,000/yr. I know there is other money available for tutoring and test fees as well.

If anyone else knows more about this, please chime in. Since I just made a 15K miscalculation, obviously I am figguring it out as I go.

No problem. Thanks for trying to figure out the payment totals. I should probably do this for my other schools and post the results for other veterans on the school thread.

Location: Dirty south.

PS: More generous scholarship than I thought I would get.

You think more acceptances will roll in on Monday or do we have to wait until after the new year?

Got in! Should get in-state tuition, plus a $20,000/year scholarship.

Generally, UMN is good for Minneapolis and the Midwest area around it like Wisconsin, Iowa, etc; decent for Chicago; and, due to an alumni base out east, slightly doable for DC. Not sure about anywhere else, though. As a general rule, if you know you want to practice in California, try to land a California school around UMN's ranking, such as USC.

I will probably end up at UMN because USC doesn't like splitters. I would like to also come back to Cali but if I don't, I can live in the midwest.

Check out UC Hastings and Davis. Minnesota is a nice state, but I doubt many Californians would like to be stuck there for ten years or more.

I just called the office and they offered to me email me the admissions info. Apparently a lot of the 12/8 packets were lost in the mail.
