This is possible?

I don't think so. I've been following this thread since I was waitlisted and this would be the first I've heard of it.

Why wouldn't it be? Waitlist isn't technically a final decision, so just mail in the ED contract along with a short LOCI and that's that.

Why would you want to with CCN numbers out of curiosity?

So you're just assuming?

Yep. Basically that's what 90% of the 0Ls on TLS do anyway. Somebody should call admissions and see.

It would be imbecilic for them not to allow it. What do they possibly lose?

It's a horrible thing for an applicant to do. With that ED in hand, they can wait until May 1st, and then decide to accept you, after you have made a deposit to another school/decided to attend a school you're more interested in than UVA.

If one were able to "ED" off the WL, then there'd be no incentive to ED pre-WL unless you were a borderline reject.

Isn't part of the ED contract that you'll get a decision within ten days or something?

This. Yes, UVA could get some mileage out of letting waitlisters ED this year. But it would come at a cost, as applicants in future years would have a huge incentive to not apply ED in October or November. Many applicants who would otherwise apply ED would apply RD and then just wait and see if they got accepted or waitlisted.

You are correct, 15 days.

Applied for the same reason. Most likely will withdraw as well.

Count me among the slaughtered.

Waitlisted today. 178 (retake)/3.53. Will almost certainly withdraw.

Meh, they'll still have borderline applicants applying ED. This extension quite obviously wasn't designed to attract the borderline applicants who were dying to go to UVA; it was designed to catch a lot of the CCN hopefuls whose cycles didn't go as well as they had hoped for. The key for UVA is to actually keep giving some scholarships to EDers so that $$ isn't the major disincentive.

Anyhow, is anyone going to call and settle this?

on the waitlist today by email.
Honestly a bit surprised. 3.7/176 GPA is right in the middle of their 25-75 range and lsat is high but i didnt figure on YP. I'm out of state and applied at the end of December. Guess I should have written Why UVA. hadn't discovered TLS yet so I didn't even think about it.
Thinking about a LOCI.

Straight up dinged at UVA today via email. 171/3.56. Honestly I'm a little surprised, was expecting a wait-list.

Is there a general sense that the extended ED ploy has made it more difficult to get in for regular people this cycle?
