DING! First Ding of the cycle. Oh, well. I didn't have a 3.85 or above GPA, so it's not like I had a shot. I did like how they didn't even make an effort in the rejection letter. A lot of people applied, you weren't good enough, this email is it, we'll never talk to you again.

Was it really that bad? I haven't heard that before on here, you should post it...

I'd rather not post it whole, but it wasn't really BAD. It was just so informal, and they were aware of it. Hence, this:

VIRGINIA/TRUJILLO: I hope you excuse the informality of this communication, but I thought you might appreciate speed over formality.

It's a form letter, it's not as if they custom-type it, so it would seem that a bit more of that generic ego-boosting "we like you, we really do, but..." pap should be in order .

Oh, actually I have read that before. Someone posted it a while back I believe. Sorry for the rejection. UVA is really odd. I am still under review from the first week of Nov....

Any idea what it means when your UVA status checker updates the date of your "Pending Review/Decision"? Mine went to pending review on 2/16 or some such, and just yesterday the date changed to 3/8. Just wondering if anybody knows a timeline for decision after that kind of update, and whether or not it has any predictive value for what the decision is.

Are all these waitlists being emailed out literally right now? Do these kinds of emails still get sent out after the admissions offices are closed for the day? And does surviving waitlist bloodbath days like this increase the odds a 170+ applicant might be accepted or does it increase the odds that they didn't even merit a waitlist and are just going to get dinged

WL'ed. Kind of disappointing but it seems like UVA's been WL'ing a shitload of really qualified applicants, so not too offended... guess I'll crank up the LOCI machine.

Haha. Yes, they are so excited, they are struggling to find the rights words. I think being below both medians means in my case the big fat No is coming. But I did pour my heart and soul into my personal statement, so maybe I'll get a WL for the effort. I am going on 21 weeks of being complete...
