Going to send a letter of continued interest after the fall semester is over. Good luck to everyone else!
When did you submit? ED or RD?
RD complete 10/21/2009
switched to ED 12/1/2009

Ad com said he wanted to wait for my December score, but I decided not to retake... My softs were very good... I think that is the main reason he kept my application.

do we think the space right around 3.7 gpa/168/169 land is all going to be waitlists?

looks like last year it was some WLs, some denials.

Got my acceptance packet in the mail today -- very nice to see it in writing. I'm excited about the acceptance, and I've been really pleased with the contact I've had with the admissions office so far.

Do any of you know how UVA handles scholarships? Would I know by now if they're giving me anything? Or do you have a sense of how much grant $ might be awarded after I fill out the FAFSA? (I'm not expecting anything, but a little sure would help.)

Thanks for any info, and good luck to those still waiting!

Big scholarships (half or full tuition only) were given with acceptances. Smaller scholarships (in 5k increments) were awarded in March or April; I received word of a scholarship award last year during the week of ASD.

Because a graduate degree is a gateway to higher-paying employment, typically financial aid is awarded almost exclusively in loans unless there is a merit-based reason to give the student aid (to attract them to that school instead of them possibly choosing a better one). You may receive a small scholarship depending on your stats, but you should be prepared to only get Stafford and GradPLUS loans, which combined are enough to cover the costs of attending including COL.

Good info, thanks. $5K would be sweet! (small, but I'd take it!)

Thanks for the informative reply! (I had to make a slight edit to your post, though, since I hold 2 grad degrees in field that's anything but lucrative. Good thing they came tuition-free. :) )

I just received my rejection via email. I was RD, with an LSAT score below their 25th. Not totally unexpected. Good luck to everyone else :)

Sorry to hear that. I guess that means I should start checking my email box as well. As soon as someone mentioned the G-Town rejection email, it was waiting for me as well. And ten minutes ago, someone mentioned that they had been denied at Penn. And sure enough, I followed suit. So now I anxiously wait for UVA, a school I'd kill to attend...

Sorry to hear that, especially as I'm in a similar place numbers-wise. Can I ask when you applied?

I applied 9/12 and was complete by 9/18. I'm a little sad, but I know I'll be happy at Minnesota if I don't get accepted to a higher ranked school.

Good luck folks, keeping my fingers crossed for you

+1. I liked TLS a lot better when it was all acceptances.

Ouch, just got rejection email. Brief but courteous.

Status checker changed to "Application For Admission Denied." Harsh. I'll start in with the anti-South jokes next week in petty retaliation and to cover my wounded pride.

Doesn't really matter, as I wasn't going to get off a waitlist anyway. I sort of assumed that they'd be more selective about their WL this year given how few people came off last cycle. Regardless, glad they gave me a fee waiver and didn't waste more than $12 on a long shot. Good luck to those still waiting.

Went complete 10/13. GPA sub-3.

Thanks. I expected the rejection so it doesn't really sting too bad. Furthermore, I doubt I would have attended since finances are a huge issue for me. (I have become a full believer that they have a stated policy of not admitting any non-URM who has lower than 3.8 GPA with anything less than a 170 LSAT.)

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
