if i expect to get YP waitlisted from UVA, what's the timeline for that usually like? should i not expect to hear from them at all until march or so, or are they usually quicker than that with the waitlists? i'm just not sure if the YP waitlist is different from the "standard" waitlist in that regard.

I don't know about YP, but I'm hoping that they are just admitting people in a haphazard order. I've been pending review since late September with nary a word from them too. Thought it was just the in-staters going first, but apparently not. Here's to hoping that they just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Edit: of the Waitlists on LSN right now, only one would be a possible YP, and that happened pretty quickly.

No evidence, but I assume a YP waitlist would be sooner rather than later. They'd know pretty quickly if you were a flight risk to T6. Also, earlier WLs give you more of a chance to plead your case. Meanwhile, the borderline waitlistees are sort of in a holding pattern until the school figures out whether they need them; it's possible that schools'd do a sort of internal waitlist by holding these apps for later review.

If there's any difference in timing between the two WL groups, it makes sense to me that the YPs would be first.

I think I have heard some people say that they were told to wait two weeks for such information. Seems like there are different roads.

Ok that's good news. I didn't feel like it would be appropriate to ask, given the general tone of the brief conversation. Maybe I will e-mail them after I get my acceptance letter... I guess at that point it can't hurt to ask!

I've been complete since September 8, my status was updated on September 24, no movement since then. Out of state and now I'm sorely regretting not doing early decision...

I guess there's no point in torturing myself. I haven't visited anywhere and I'm not educated enough about the schools yet to make a final decision but there's just SOMETHING about UVA....
