I am so sorry about all the WLs and rejects guys. :(

Has anyone who applied after 10/24 gotten an email? That's the latest date I'm seeing for these on LSN, and considering I submitted 10/30 I am not feeling like I'm out of the woods yet.

For those unfamiliar with OS, her epic tale of getting into Fordham Law from the WL is the stuff of TLS legend. If you want any chance at all of making UVA Law your destination next fall, you would be very wise to follow her advice as she is the forum's foremost expert on the subject. Good luck to all of you who are waitlisted, and to those who are still waiting to hear!

i went under review in early to mid october and then my status check date changed to 12/1. i'm 169/3.84, so i'm expecting a waitlist, but for some reason i have yet to get one today...

maybe they want to string me along a bit longer?

honestly though, if they waitlist me i'm going to withdraw.

A poster a few pages ago said that they really take their time with some people. I think they like to compare Sept lsat people with Dec. people if they are not sure.

While every school has a slightly different personality (what worked at Fordham will not work at YLS, according to their admissions blog, so don't even try it), there are some general principles to be followed in waitlist management:

If UVA is your first choice, for the love of all that is holy, say so. Your line is that you will pay your seat deposit as soon as you are admitted. Then, when you are admitted, do so.

Visit! People are a lot more memorable in person. I was a familiar face in my admissions office by the day I came by with my seat deposit. Because adcomms knew me, I was not just a stack of papers.

Keep them updated (once a month, by email, is perfect) with updated resumes, new LORs (depending on the school), etc. Make sure they know that they are still your #1.

Know everything there is to know about UVA. I wound up learning enough about Fordham that I could rep the school at the LSAC forum as a first semester 1L.

Our LOCIs (Deadatheist and I worked on this project) can be found here:

http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =2&t=70902

That is all, I think. Back to Ks studying.

thanks, doc!
My pleasure. UVA students are delightful people, and I am always happy to render them any services I may, which extends to helping applicants. You guys will keep company with the best.

Yep, waitlist for me too. Not entirely unexpected, so I can't be too upset, but I thought I had like a 2% chance...

3.8/169
Sent 10/11
Complete 10/13
Status checker now reads: "Waitlist, Pending Final Decision"
(ps. FWIW, I never had a status checker update after my first "Complete, Pending review/decision" on 10/13...)

edit: was via email. email subject line was "Virginia Law Admissions," which was just cruel...

Waitlisted today. 3.33/164. Better than an outright rejection.

Wait listed also
complete 9/24
3.85, 169
not surprised, considering the 169 wall from last year and the fact that I did not write a Why UVA.
I'll withdraw, not interested after Michigan and NYU acceptances.

nonetheless, it wasn't a pleasurable email to receive.

Looking at the ED thread this year, it looks like a lot of people switched to go ED this year, and that UVA took an awful lot of people out of ED applications... it may just be that there aren't as many seats left for RDs this year because of all the accepted EDs.

However, one other thing to consider is that for two years in a row now, UVA has overenrolled. That's not good and it's something they're trying to put a stop to. They tried to reduce that last year by admitting far fewer people and having a large WL pool; but a higher than expected number of RDs offered admission accepted, so they managed to overenroll anyway. They may be reacting this year by WLing even more people initially in the hopes of underenrolling and then pulling a few folks off the WL once they know how many seats they still have to fill.

So it's possible people on the WL still have a chance to get in. If they underadmit RDs at first in order to ensure they don't overenroll again, they'll have a few open seats toward the end of the cycle and start pulling people in off the WL to make up the difference. Those of you in love with UVA enough to hold on until March/April may still be able to get in.

172+/3.7+ could be YP. Get to work on LOCIs if you really want to attend.
