Re: Cornell waiting room
Is anyone else beginning to wonder how massive the "reserve" list might be? Seems like it could be an almost absurdly high number, judging very anecdotally by the number of posters who seem to be on it.
Anyone feeling industrious enough to actually tally the TLS reserve count?

Haha, but the letter did say several hundred. I'm not doubting them. I'll admit it, after applying EA and then being strung along for 8 months only to be strung alone more...I'm a little pissed.

Re: Cornell waiting room
seems like a lot of people on reserve (especially EA applicants) are withdrawing. like any other waitlist, i dont think the number of reserve offers is any indicator of the number of active people electing to remain in consideration, let alone an indicator of anyone's chances of getting off the reserve list.jfonz wrote:Is anyone else beginning to wonder how massive the "reserve" list might be? cornell seems to be upsetting a lot of people with how slow there process has been and the ambiguity of all these deferral/reserve/waitlist/summer waitlist labels. that could be a good thing for those who are still very committed to attending.

I am actively depressed. Not even pissed, just... sad at all the pointless time/energy/letter writing/status checking/hand wringing of the past 8 months.Pearalegal wrote:No.jfonz wrote:Is anyone else beginning to wonder how massive the "reserve" list might be? Re: Cornell waiting room
After a comedy of errors between myself and my school, Cornell finally got my Dean's Cert today and told me I'm complete.
Now I'm left to assume it's probably too late and worry myself sick until I finally get a decision. I hate being a splitter.

The reserve letter said it was a couple/few hundred people.jfonz wrote:Is anyone else beginning to wonder how massive the "reserve" list might be? Seems like it could be an almost absurdly high number, judging very anecdotally by the number of posters who seem to be on it.

In other words, about 1 to 2 times the size of the entering class.QueueToo wrote:The reserve letter said it was a couple/few hundred people.jfonz wrote:Is anyone else beginning to wonder how massive the "reserve" list might be? Out of curiosity (and because I am getting extremely impatient), has anyone who went complete on 3/9 according to their status checker, received a decision?

Re: Cornell waiting room
Now that all my decisions are officially over (rejection from NYU, but who cares? since no one likes hipsters anyway), the only thing I'm waiting on is my revised financial aid package from Cornell. Seems to take them quite a bit of turnaround time on these requests. Hopefully, since the deposit deadline passed for almost all applicants, they will be willing to give some of that money. I have a deposit down at BU, but Cornell remains my top choice.

Just got my scholarship increased from $60k to $75k after an appeal. Deposit deadline was last week and I withdrew last week as well. Oh well its a nice ego boost anyways.

Re: Cornell waiting room
it just occured to me. ppl still at 'complete' at this point have been effectively waitlisted, yes? since we're being considered relative to spots left, etc. as Cornell counts their seat deposits as we speak.

^ But we're like on a priority waitlist, I think we have a good chance of getting in right now. If they didn't want us, we would've been waitlisted/rejected already just like everyone else. I'm optimistic of my chances (3.4, 169).

Re: Cornell waiting room
called the admissions office today - woman on the phone confirmed that what's on my status checker (complete 3/4) is actually the status, and there have been no other updates. decision not rendered. she also clarified that if an offer were made, they would adjust the deposit deadline for 2 weeks after the offer - too bad that still means they could get away with a 4/30 letter and skirt by every other school's deadline.

STILL no decision! Complete 1/5. What is the likelihood of an accept/ding at this point?

But this is becoming absurd, I mean honestly I don't want to prepare everything to go to GW and then find out Cornell accepted me and then switch shit around. Come on Cornell, stop being such a bunch of fuck faces.

Have you called them? I think that may get more done than badmouthing them online.GermX wrote:But this is becoming absurd, I mean honestly I don't want to prepare everything to go to GW and then find out Cornell accepted me and then switch shit around.
