Got the deferral letter today. Postmarked 11/30, which would explain the apparent mail delay.

I am indeed in New England, autumn80. Sent them a paper app at the end of August; it didn't go complete until Oct. 7 or thereabouts.beebs wrote:When did you apply/go complete?philosoraptor wrote:Got the deferral letter today. Postmarked 11/30, which would explain the apparent mail delay.

Re: Cornell waiting room
In case people are wondering if there have been any acceptances yet, my cornell friend just went to the admissions office and asked if they've started accepting people. They would not answer that question but told him they've "emailed no one re: decisions." I take this to mean they haven't accepted anyone yet. That's all I've got; he couldn't get anything else out of them.

I wonder why they would update your status on 11/27, but date it 11/24, and then not send anything until 11/30?SilverE2 wrote:Got the deferral letter today as well, postmarked 11/30.
Sorry again about the deferral, Silver and raptor.

Cornell uses snail mail for decisions not email, so I don't think this tells us much.espwa wrote:In case people are wondering if there have been any acceptances yet, my cornell friend just went to the admissions office and asked if they've started accepting people. Re: Cornell waiting room
Thanks, but I think this is not bad news -- given my stats, I wouldn't have been surprised had they just waited a couple of weeks and sent me the ol' "thanks but no thanks." So now I'll jump through their hoops and do whatever I can to make sure this doesn't become a waitlist or worse.kpd-m wrote:Sorry again about the deferral, Silver and raptor.
In the meantime, my UF status checker went to decision a few days ago, so I'm hoping that'll be a first acceptance to tide me over. Good times.
Does anyone know whether the Cornell status checker is going to stay stuck at "DR" forever? Will they change it back once we send a LOCI, do you think?

Re: Cornell waiting room
They might update the status a few days later to "minimize anxiety." I think Michigan does something similar--send out decisions then update the status checker a couple days later so that people don't get too hyped up about what the decision may be. Of course, the whole purpose is meaningless if they don't actually send out their decisions until a few days after they update the status checkers. Maybe just a mistake on Cornell's part.kpd-m wrote:I wonder why they would update your status on 11/27, but date it 11/24, and then not send anything until 11/30?SilverE2 wrote:Got the deferral letter today as well, postmarked 11/30.

Re: Cornell waiting room
maybe they wanted to do away with the whole EA system entirely this year but didn't quite get around to it, so instead they're just straight deferring everyone.
