I mean think about it if most of the people aren't auto-admits but also not auto-rejects they probably want to take a look at them when they have a better idea of what the applicant pool looks like come February.
i too think that your analysis makes sense. although there has never been (at least according to LSN) a mass deferral in the first batch of decisions. deferrals or rejections seem to come sporadically in the beginning.
what was about the avg gpa and lsat accepted so far?

ABA says 3.24 for 2009 and I believe that's matrics.

i don't know the avg. but all that have been updated to decision (not necessarily accepted) had just 1 out of gpa and lsat over median. then the one guy who is international and just had the +median lsat score and no lsac gpa.

Do they send decisions via e-mail as well? I noticed from last year's Cornell thread that the link to the admitted students' website got updated a few days after some status checkers went to decision. We'll just have to wait it out I suppose....

I have my window minimized on my monitor to hide it, and I was going to the Cornell status checker and scrolling down I saw EARLY ACTION COMPLETE then EARLY ACTION DEFERRAL, and I was like OMFG ARG DEFERRAL. Then I realized it was just a list of every status you could possibly have and I wasn't even logged in yet.

it looks like the trend is continuing with no auto-admits (both numbers above median) being updated to decision.

so, if this was a deferral it would show up on the status checker, right?

When did you go to decision? Is Cornell seeing movement today?
