Re: Cornell waiting room
People who have received decisions: I just spoke with Admissions at Cornell and they reassured me (I haven't gone to decision yet) that once I received a decision I was more than welcome to call and receive that decision over the phone once I found out I had gone to decision.

I wonder if it depends on who you get when you call?Helmholtz wrote:They already tried. The admissions office told them no.hiro86 wrote:I believe that those who got a DR today can call admissions and find out what the decision is. I know people did it for the last batch of DRs and the admissions office told people what the decision was.

when did you apply?Chupavida wrote:Decision Rendered as of 12/4. I was EA complete in October.
LSAT above 75%
GPA below 25%
I'm guessing deferral ---> waitlist.

Re: Cornell waiting room
Well since the last batch was able to call and find out what the decision means, and this batch can't, maybe these are actual decisions?
EDIT: I'm still EA Complete 11/09

Re: Cornell waiting room
FWIW--I checked out a thread from last year's cycle, and it seems that SOME admitted people had a link to the admitted students website as well as some text underneath their status checker indicating that they were admitted. Some didn't though.
BUT, it seems that things are very different this year--apparently, the order of decisions last year prompted one TLSer to say "from the numbers on LSN it doesn't appear that Cornell is a school that YPs...". We all know that hasn't been the case this year, so who knows if they are doing the same on the status checker w/ the ASS link either.

I have been EA complete since 10/09, but I have not gone to DR yet. Does anyone know when they usually start sending out the rejections?

I was EAC on 10/2, with a decision rendered on 12/4. Cornell was a long shot for me, so I'm guessing I'm an auto-ding at this point. The best I could have hoped for was a deferral or waitlist, so I guess I'm leaving upstate New York!!!

Re: Cornell waiting room
hi guys,
I am an international applicant--DR 12/04--just called the admissions office and they were very kind to let me know their decision via phone. Since my LSAT was below the median I got rejected.
Point is that you can find out the decision via phone. Hope that helps.

Wait...did we need to send in a Dean's Cert. before they will consider our file? I didn't, I thought the concensus was that we had time. I thought I was complete but that might explain why my status checker still says "Received" after a month.Chupavida wrote:I submitted 9/27, and sent in a dean's cert that same week. Umm I didn't send in a Dean's Cert? And I'm at DR. Isn't that only for int'l students?WhyBother? wrote:Wait...did we need to send in a Dean's Cert. before they will consider our file? Anyone who had to say yes to having a record with your UG school (I think Question 22) had to send in a Deans Cert.crombot wrote: Umm I didn't send in a Dean's Cert? And I'm at DR. Isn't that only for int'l students?

Re: Cornell waiting room
I am really telling the truth..
The admissions lady was super nice. She told me that the adcoms were unable to offer me admission and that I should be receiving a letter in a week or so.
Dunno if she told me the decision over the phone because I called from Europe but the point is that she did.
GPA: Superior (Foreign CAS)
LSAT: below median (english not my native language)
2 Masters--lived and worked in 5 countries (one of them LL.M.)
now I am interning for the UN as legal intern
I guess my LSAT was a major factor...

They actually sent me an email pointing out that I hadn't submitted a Dean's Cert: "Once we receive the Dean’s Certification, your application file will be complete and you will receive and[sic] e-mail confirming this.”[/quote]
Question 24 says "If Cornell LS requests that I provide a completed Dean's Cert Form, I agree to comply with such a request in a prompt matter..."

When I spoke to them they said you could receive your decision over the phone period.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
