I received the email later than many people here (I've been checking regularly all day), so you still could get one today.

Yea I just got mine as well. Did Michigan send these out last year? Doesn't look like it from this:

http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... &start=500

Also freaked out that last year's thread was only 21 pages long.

Apps are up over 25%, so that might explain why they've decided to put some people on hold. Fwiw.

Where is this number from? I didn't see anything about it on Michigan as of yet. Maybe I missed it

Dean Pless said, according to LSAC, applications across the board are only up 6% as on Jan and only 1.1% up in applicants.

doesn't talk about Michigan but
NYT wrote:Officials at many law schools reported substantial increases in applications over last year. Washington University in St. Louis has had a 19 percent year-to-date increase in applications to its college of law. At the University of San Francisco School of Law, applications are up 35 percent over last year, and at the University of Iowa’s College of Law, applications are up 39 percent.

Some increases are more explicable than others. Applications to the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University have risen 54 percent this year, which may be related to its rise in the U.S. News & World Report rankings to 23 in 2009, from 36 the year before.

But at Cornell University’s Law School, whose ranking has remained relatively stable, applications are up 44 percent, and no one is quite sure of the reason for such a large increase.

I don't know =( The admissions dean even sent me a nice fee-waiver letter stating how much they love Berkeley students...le sigh.

That was at one point in time. Probably caused by a massive influx of EA applicants and it has surely gone down by now. Anyone wanna call Cornell to ask?

ApplicationS versus applicants seems to be key in that NYT article. LSAC is continuing to make it easier to send out multiple apps and get the financial need fee waver. Further, as far as I can tell, schools have become extremely aggressive in sending out fee wavers and such to potential applicants. The result is that applications are going up, but yields will probably be down. I imagine one of the main headaches in admin departments is figuring out how much.

My first impression after reading it was that it wasn't a hold email, merely a reminder to those who have been waiting for a while that they are still looking through them. Then I came here and thought otherwise. Now, I'm starting to think my first impression was correct...seems like everyone who has been waiting for a while is getting one.

Well, this article was published two days ago and is citing YoY #s. I think total numbers are up substantially, regardless of how much of that is attributable to an EA applicant surge.

Is he talking about applicants to Michigan or total applicants through LSAC?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
