Just went to decision 3/10.

Can you log into the admitted students' site?

This is the important question

I had received my acceptance package, couldn't log in, and checker didn't update -- so it's not foolproof.

I was just able to log in as well for the first time....If I were to have gotten scholarship money, would it already be under Mail and Money? Or does it show up later?

I see a scholly letter dated 4 days after my acceptance letter was mailed, still waiting to get it.

You're getting 10k/yr, i'd put my life on it.

edit: Also, admitmepls, my login didn't update to show the Mail and Money option until the day after I got my scholly... I don't think my experience has been typical, however.

Quick financial aid question: Has anyone succeeded in getting need-based aid from UM? My FAFSA EFC is zero, I'm an independent student, and my parents aren't financing my education whatsoever. I was originally rejected for need-based aid, but wrote an email to the financial aid dean explaining my history and present situation, and she agreed to consider me for need-based aid. I filled out the NeedAccess forms and have submitted my FAFSA and all that, but the financial aid communications page still says I have nothing coming. I'm pretty surprised, considering I grew up really poor, have no substantial source of income, and received Pell Grants and SEOGs throughout undergrad.

I got 75000 from virginia. Is it possible to get more money from Michigan? I mean, I know they said they don't match other schools' scholarship, but has anyone tried and succeded?

I agree, the worst they can say is "No." If they really want you, though, it's pretty clear from Dean Z's interview earlier this month that they may consider at least matching the money you've been offered from UVA (see below):

If you don’t get a merit scholarship from us but do at another school, we invite you to tell us about it and we may decide to compete with it, or even match it, depending on the strength of the candidate and the competing school. citation: http://www.admissionsdean.com/researchi ... h-zearfoss

She goes on to say later:

As for advice, if you’re seeking for us to match a competing merit scholarship, then try not to be rude! Think about our perspective. I sometimes feel like I’m being asked to function as a used car salesman when I’m talking with someone about their financial aid package, but I’m obviously not someone who views a Michigan Law education as commodity that can be traded. For me it’s much more personal, so sometimes conversations about scholarship money can be a little demoralizing. Remember, we have finite resources and we are trying to do the best we can for as many people as we can.
