e: it seems like most of the pple freaking out right now are ED, and I suppose that may be warranted. but I'm RD FT, DR 12/1. I can't decide if I should be freaking out or not. I guess I'll find out soon.
theyre rejecting ED applicants wit 170+ and respectable GPAs? I am ED 174 and stupid crappy 3.05, I was hoping atleast for a deferral...do you think it will be a straight up denial?

Complete 12/1, UR 12/3 and they say they let ED know by 12/15 so ill know for sure soon enough
I don't really know anything about ED. My post was specifically about RD. It doesn't really apply to ED bc for ED they have to give you a decision by 12/15, and that decision is essentially admit, reject, or hold (I'll pretend wl doesn't exist for now). For RD, they don't have to give you a decision until April, and DR 12/1 would have to be either admit or reject. They wouldn't say "decision rendered" if they were holding your application. Basically I don't think they'd be outright rejecting RD applicants with median or better LSAT scores this early in the cycle... My logic tells me they would at least be holding them for a while before rejecting. I really hope I'm right, although this post does nothing to help you out.
I could definitely be wrong but I believe a hold still counts as a "decision." So those with DR can still be held over.

What a pathetic lack of transparency. My opinion of G-Town is going south every single day. Compare this to Illinois, where one of the Deans regularly posts in order to inform us of what is going on. He is creating some strong goodwill and making a great first impression (at least he is on me).

is there really a point in telling an RD applicant his decision is Hold, which means that the admissions has decided to just look at it some more and give a final decision until later on.

Yea idk, I got held at Cornell (like the rest of the world) and my status checker said decision. Like I said its just one example so who knows.

My post was specifically RD. Why would they say "decision rendered" if they are holding the application (i.e., doing the precise opposite of rendering a decision)? I could also be wrong, and I don't usually get upset about these kinds of things, but if they said "decision rendered", and they are "holding" my RD application, I will be pissed.

Seeing as I'm expecting a rejection at this point, I would be pretty happy if my DR turned out to be a hold.

Oh sorry you're right I was talking about EA. That WOULD suck if they gave you a DR-hold.

Ugh. As of today (I'm ED-DR 12/1, no sign of a letter or an email) I'm applying to more schools. I'm pretty sure I'm not getting in here and I can't really afford to wait longer. I'm thinking BU and Duke...and would it be crazy to apply to Maryland so I could be in proximity to GW and GULC so I could transfer? I wonder if I could get any money from Maryland?

That's like saying you prefer a Geo Metro because the dealership was nicer to you. Good job.

You can't afford to wait less than a week to send out more apps? You'll be fine if you hold off for a little bit. Also, fyi MD law school is in Baltimore (which sucks).

So any DR on 12-1 check the mail yet? Surely someone has already gotten their mail right?

at this point i wouldn't be surprised if there's no mail and all e-mails coming at us one of these days. GULC just seems that cruel and classless.

Its a matter of creating good first impressions. Law school isn't some machine that you go into and pop right back out of. There is a personal element to everything. So if you get a great first impression of the personal side of a school, it can make a lot of difference. Its not like people say "oh Illinois is better because they tell us whats going on". Its just that they show how easy it is to create this goodwill, and it highlights just how poor G-Town is at this crucial point in time of the process.

Hey, it might run longer. Some folks here have concerns beyond 160k.

yeah I know it is, LOL, but I'd rather be down there than have to transfer from Fordham or something after blowing 25K on rent for one year...I used to live in Baltimore, so it wouldn't be the worst thing.
