The scholarship application process is our effort to consider holistically - just as we did when we reviewed your application for admission - all requests for scholarship assistance.
If you are interesting in being considered, please e-mail us at
hoyas10@law.georgetown.edu by Thursday. It also would be helpful to the committee's deliberations if you could provide us with some updated information. Specifically, we are interested in knowing such things as where you are in the decision-making process, what response deadlines you may be facing from other schools, and what level of funding would make a difference in your decision."
I never contacted them before about scholarships (also I think I might have checked a box on the app saying I wanted to be considered) and was not contacted about interviews. But if people are getting replies about being alternates for scholarships and stuff, this all seems like quite a tease.
How specifically did you guys respond to this email? With hard numbers? With super-detailed information on your cycle? (Beyond the point you wanted to make? i.e. should i tell them about my failure to secure a JR2 from harvard?) Do you think this had any impact on your reply? (i.e. you didn't seem like you'd be interested so they just made you an alternate to test your actual interest in GULC?)
I was interviewed for a scholarship...I mentioned that I got into a top 3, and received a full-ride from UVa, but am interested in being in DC.
Got 0 dollars today - straight up...not even an alternate...haha, so use your discretion...
Edit: not saying that the information I revealed caused the 0 scholarship...but it could have...I really hit it off with my interviewer.
so i guess its possible that they think you;ll just go to the T3? is that true, or do you really want to be in DC?

Would those of you who were rejected for scholarship money care to exchange stats via PM? I'm in the same boat and am now just hoping their decision isn't indicative of how the rest of the financial aid cycle is likely to go.

If offered comparable money - I will probably lean towards Georgetown. I have considerations other than rankings.

Hey for everyone who had status updated to 3/3 and decision status for 3/5, can you tell me where you see the decision status? Does that not show up until they've made the decision? I'm not seeing it anywhere, but I am UR again for 3/3 as well. Thanks!

It won't show the decision line until they've made a decision. I wonder what it means to not be one of the ones with "decision finalized" today.

You're my numbers twin, almost. There's no way you should end up at Gtown with 45k total. You can absolutely do better.

This might give you info,
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... =7&t=99706 although I've been on this thread, and we've mostly been doing a whole lot of "When do we hear?", "When should I write/call/interview?" as well as a good deal of parsing slight differences among various levels of GULC waitlists...

Wow, did you mention that you had a 45K offer from Chicago?! Do they really consider themselves a peer institution to a T6? Seems kind of ridiculous, especially considering the enormous COL in D.C. I guess G'town banks on the fact that students will do anything to be in D.C.
Is there any negotiation that can be done after they give you an offer? If not, I don't imagine they'll be enticing too many people.

Gee whiz! A lot of people with a lot of great offers from better schools are getting nothing. Do you have to say some magic words for them to give you a scholly?
Seriously, though, to the people who got nothing...do you think it was because you mentioned your other great offers and they decided they couldn't compete $$-wise? I just don't see any other explanation. It seems like most of you think your interviews went well.

I think so. I felt my interview went really well, and I really like Georgetown for a number of reasons, and I want to end up in DC eventually - all of which I made clear to the interviewer, and he seemed to believe me. But at the end when I mentioned my other offers he was like "wow, and you're still considering georgetown..!...?" which makes me think maybe the scholly-givers thought the same... :/

If we interviewed for a merit scholarship and were turned down, are we out of luck when it comes to merit aid further down the line as well? Should we still fill out the yellow form?

Same thing happened to me today, too! It probably means that they looked at it a second time. That's my best guess. Or today was the day it actually went into review. Fingers crossed.
I had the same thing happen but my old under review date was 2/17. I should probably be autowaitlist at best. I'm hoping this is some sort of good sign.

How long are applications typically under review before a decision is rendered (days, weeks, months, etc.)? I know it probably varies, but I am curious. Thanks.

If you are accepted then the review takes around 6 weeks. Check LSN and that can give you a better view of the timeline.

Went UR today. Previously, my status read "Application Complete" and was dated 12/18.
I applied to PT only and my numbers aren't terribly good so i'm not too hopeful. At least they're looking at my app!

Ahh, this waiting is driving me crazy!! I wish I had a DR. My status is still under review since 2/12. I didn't even notice when I went complete, all I know is they sent me an application received email on 1/11. Anyone else in a similar situation? I was fine waiting patiently until I heard back from GW in just over 2 weeks... now all the sudden my patience is gone.
Also, to the person who wrote that acceptance is usually 6 weeks review time, any idea what pretty much auto reject time under review is?
