Hi Chitown,

Any recommendations on laptops for class? I am leaning towards a netbook for convenience, but didn't know if it was enough.

Thanks!
Hi! I use a full size (15") laptop and find it to be great. Just get a backpack with a sleeve and you're good to go. The tradeoff for a netbook isnt' worth it -- everybody who uses them in class is always complaining that the screen is so small it's useless. Really, I don't find the normal ones to be cumbersome.

I also would strongly urge you to use a Windows based computer, since we use a lot of software that doesn't play with Mac

Just got a $40,000 scholarship last night. I was accepted 2 months ago. That means the money that was left over from the seat deposits is going out. Good luck everyone.

Congrats! Despite your snarky comment to me about visiting the school, I am happy for you. I do not see your numbers listed in your profile, so what are they?

Thanks Chi! That helps a lot. One more question if you don't mind? Do you feel you were able to go on vacation during fall break? I didn't know if the project load would be to heavy to take a break during that time period. But on the other hand, I might need it :-) Thanks again for your help!

I did. Sent a request then about a week or so later received an additional 6k/year. But with incredible stips. (3.3)

Same. I told them my other scholarships and that I wasn't gunna go unless they offered something. $40,000 over three years. 3.1 GPA stip.

I originally was accepted without a scholarship offer. I sent the admissions office copies of all of my offers from other schools and explained that they were the only school I had not received a scholarship from and that I could not attend without money. I didn't hear back for months but then finally was offered 16k a year. I explained to them that I was thrilled with their offer but that I had still received better offers from other institutions and they then increased me to 22k a year. I will most likely be attending in the fall

Out of curiosity, how long were you guys "IN REVIEW" before you heard anything (good or bad)? I am still "FILE COMPLETE." I am just curious.

Thanks

I was "File Complete" on March 9th. I went "In Review" on April 5th (with it updating the date on the 7th and 9th) and was accepted on the 14th.

Received email on the 04/22 asking me if I am interested in being on the waitlist, I replied saying that I am still interested in attending.Email states that traditionally, most people on waitlist are admitted. Does anyone have any information on the waitlist and the summer program at IU-indy?

I do not have any info on waitlists. I finally went "in review" on 4/27/10. I still want to attend IU-I. We shall see what happens.

Did the email also talk about the summer program or how the waitlist is ranked?

Traditionally, 5-10% of people on a waitlist get off. This year it hasn't even been 5%.

Doesn't look good for me. Got home from work about 7 minutes ago, got some milk, went to check my status......"decision letter sent," no email and no update to my fees. I am sad.:(

Thanks. I'm wondering also what the summer program is, and seeing as May is in ~2 days, would it start in May or June? The website has absolutely minimal info. regarding this, other than who they believe is "eligible" for the summer program.

Also, does waitlist mean:
1) We are waiting for people to pay their deposits, and those who don't pay one/both after the due date, we'll holla @ u immediately, or
2) Our Fall 2010 class is full for now. The moment anybody withdraws, we'll holla @ u
