Finally! I am under Committee Review, it says as of 11/12, but I''m pretty sure I was obsessively checking and it didn't change until today, but regardless. Yay!

Anyone tried/had interviews at Penn?

Does anyone know if Penn sends out e-mail acceptances or is it snail mail? I'm already dreading going home for winter break and leaving my mailbox :(

File complete, applied ED on Nov 15...I went to visit this weekend (Nov 13) and Bayrex mentioned that he had looked at apps up until Oct 30. Just a heads up...

Do you mean he has looked at all of the apps submitted before Oct 30?

Implying that he had made absolute decisions on those apps?

I don't really know how it works. I wonder if schools like Penn who send out decisions a little later than other schools assign scores or something to apps and then compare them against each other as more and more apps come in...

Penn claims they don't look at any RD apps before they make decisions on ED, so maybe they were referring to ED apps submitted before Oct 30th. They probably dont make final decisions on ED until they can at least browse through all the ED apps though, meaning they have to wait until after Nov. 15th to get an idea of scores? Who knows, I'm just hoping for a phone call before Thanksgiving!

UT calls then mails a welcome packet. However I'm not sure how this relates to Penn lol.

I think it depends on where you live. I received the snail mail three days before a call

I was complete as of 10/15, and am "under committee review" since 10/26.

Anyone at all hear back yet?

I'm assuming that for all those who are in the pre-10/30 batch, they'll release decisions all at once?

Good luck to all!

is anyone doing the art/literature essay for Penn. WTF do these schools expect? Do they want to hear our opinion on a book? I am reluctant to reveal my analysis as I have a conservative point of view and I fear the principles on which I base how the lit has influenced me to pursue LS will make me unattractive to an adcomm rep. I also have the most to say about books pertaining to law as i am a legal studies concentration in graduate school. Are they really looking for artsy books vs. academic? I don't do artsy, but all this personal statement non-sense about "who am I" has driven me nuts and I want to know if I should be thinking that way again witht his book or art essay. Any thoughts? anyone else in my shoes?

As long as you relate reasonable conclusions about a reputable work, you'll be fine. Just make sure your story/analysis elucidates an important point(s) about you that relate(s) to why you want to go to law school. why you're a good candidate, how you've grown, et. al

Can you please link to last year's forum? I spent some time looking through old posts but couldn't find the forum for last year's Penn class.

Thanks.

I had the third thing- a second "under committee review" update on 11/18. Anyone know what that could mean??? Does it mean I'm under final review?? Is it possibly a good or a bad sign??????

Edit: went complete 11/01

So I got the received email and status checker on the 12th of November but it still doesn't show they have received anything but my Credential Assembly Report in the little requirements box. Should I be concerned or does processing usually take this long?

I got that too - first "under committee review" on 11/17, 2nd one today. I applied ED on 11/12, complete 11/16.

May I ask your numbers? Mine are totally marginal - 3.4ish, 168. Basically applied as a "Hail Mary" - hoping my softs, essays, and ED might push me over, and since it really is my top choice, figured the ED wouldn't be a "waste." SIGH. Totally didn't think it would be this stressful. The status checkers are nice for checking for completeness, but beyond that, most of the time, they just confuse me. Could they have made a decision already? Auto-reject, possibly? :(

I went under review on 11/4 I believe, and then my status date updated again a week later. I don't think it means anything.

"Under committee review 11/12" just updated to "Under committee review 11/19" doubt the date means anything, but who knows?

ED Applicant, 171/3.57

Received 11/13
Complete 11/16
Under Committee Review 11/17
Under Committee Review (updated) 11/19
Phone call asking about a detail in my transcript 11/20

SO NERVOUS.

I think the updated 'under committee review' might indicate that they are actually looking at your application, as opposed to it being in queue. Who knows though.

Mine is still "Under committee review 11/3", and has never changed, so I bet your update means SOMETHING... if not everyone's is updating, it probably means they're actually reviewing yours now!

Complete as of 11/10. How long should I expect to wait for committee review?
