You dont want to be held. You want them to accept you for who you are and embrace you with open arms.

I'd take cuddle bitch (LinkRemoved) at this point

My work internet wont let me open that page. It says "Distasteful and Morally Questionable"

Being a cuddle bitch is distasteful and morally questionable, so your browser is right.

Hold still seems better than WL at this point.

Penn is distasteful and I am morally outraged that they held you, 0L.

This is worse than NYU rejected LieutKaffe ED.

Any other ED's out there who haven't heard back yet?

I'm still UCR from 10/26, and getting very nervous/frustrated.

Thanks, I really thought I was going to get in since I wrote a Why Penn essay all about my trip there and personal reasons I wanted to attend the school, so I dont know how it could be YP..

From LSN, it looks like last year Penn only YP'ed starting at 175 LSATs. Lower than that and it is probably not YP.

I am not arguing that it is YP, I just dont understand lower numbers getting in and higher numbers with Why Penns, etc (assuming PS's are similar quality) would get "held"

Idk, I think YP is very possible. The fact that a supplemental essay was required this year probably means that a Why Penn isn't certain protection from it. I'm guessing that the fact that I'm from Philly may have helped me...

Re Hiro: there were some 173s WLed last year. Plus, a hold isn't a WL, so it may not show up on LSN.

I wouldn't put much stock in yield protect at Penn with numbers like that. I was accepted straight up last cycle with better numbers and didn't even bother to write the then-optional Why Penn essay that most people wrote.

I think the issue is more that schools are going to be holding/waitlisting a greater percentage of applicants this cycle because applications are expected to be at an all time high. I have also heard (from a friend who works in the admissions office here at Penn) that, so far anyway, they've been looking for diversity first and will turn to numbers later when they have a better idea of what all the applicants look like. Hence all the holding/waitlisting.

If it is happening to ED candidates, it definitely isn't "YP" since if accepted rather than held, these canddiates would definitely be attending.

From the trends on this website, it looks like they are going for higher GPAs first as well. Don't loose hope, according to http://www.lawschoolnumbers.com, Penn hasn't rejected (or waitlisted) anyone 170+ and 3.8+ yet.

Almost everyone with a 173 and a GPA over 3.8 was accepted... so they clearly were not doing much YPing to those with 173s. Possibly some of the 174s, but that is hard to tell for sure.

Eek! My status just changed to "Under Committee Review" as well. Didn't take too long, they got it 11/13 and it was complete 11/24.

This is so nerve wracking.
