Re: U Penn 2010
looking for some advice here: got "hold for further review" today (I applied ED). What can i do at this point other than waiting? The email does ask for additional materials, if i would like adcomms to consider any. I won't have any more grades any time soon, and maxed out on the number of recommendation letters (all 4). So, should i send that why penn/5-year-plan essay?

Re: U Penn 2010
I'd say the why/5 year would be a good move, and take your time crafting it to make sure that it is as compelling as possible. Considering the hold, it probably won't make a difference in terms of time if the essay is in tomorrow vs. two weeks from now.

Another acceptance popped up on LSN today... 3.35/174, Penn undergrad. Just wanted to keep us all up to date.

Sorry to hear about that, man. Deferral > Ding though, hopefully you'll be able to slip in through RD, they must have seen something they liked.blhoward2 wrote:Defered to regular pool by e-mail...168/3.92

Re: U Penn 2010
Yeah, I wish I would have gotten accepted so I knew for sure where I was going but I had actually begun worrying the last few days that I'd be accepted ED and then get into Columbia or NYU by some miracle. It could be a blessing in disguise.Helmholtz wrote:Sorry to hear about that, man. And to the poster above, I agree. I wouldn't have applied binding ED anywhere because you never know what can happen in the process and whether your mind could change over these long months.

I meant that status checker movement = ding, and no change = acceptance/still deciding...managamy wrote:YP = ding as well, so there's no real difference.PoorOrpheus wrote: It could mean the reverse.

EDIT: So I guess some people got requests for fall grades, a few acceptances, and a few outright deferrals? I'm still at UR 11/11 so... *crosses fingers*

This won't be me. Penn is absolutely my first choice, so I'm going to do whatever I can to get accepted.bowie8285 wrote:for instance, if i know i am no longer bound to Penn i can apply to schools i haven't yet but otherwise i don't wanna waste the fees

Word of caution to you current Penn acceptances: Burberry may be interested in thinning the herd.
