Just waitlisted via email. Anyone else waitlisted around this time? Since I was just waitlisted today, I feel like I don't really have a shot at getting off the waitlist. Thoughts?

Well, I'd say when you were put on the waitlist shouldn't worry you too much. If anything, you might have been held without a decision for this long because it was a very tough call between admitting you and WLing you..

If I were you, I'd send in the LOCI and wait - meanwhile consider your other options of course. Where else are you thinking about attending?

I put my deposit down at Illinois last Friday. I know this sounds stupid, but what is the LOCI? The form that they sent in the waitlist email?

Not true! I've heard of several people getting off of the waitlist after getting WLed a few weeks back. :D I wouldn't be discouraged by the late notification. Good luck!

And a LOCI is a letter of continued interest. It's a letter you write to the admissions committee after getting WLed to show your continued interest in attending if accepted.

It's a bit discouraging that they're accepting people off the waitlist when there are still people waiting for an initial decision. Come on. If they're ready to pull from the waitlist, can't they just decide for the rest of people waiting, whatever that decision may be?

She might have given them a deadline. For example, she might have gotten into a higher ranked school that wanted to have her decision by a certain date. She might have told UCLA the situation and then UCLA decided to give her the spot. Nothing wrong with that, even if people are still UR.

Waitlisted just now... this comes after USC's WL yesterday. Double bummer.

After 4 months of waiting for a response, UCLA finally invited me just now to wait some more. Sorry, but that's just not going to happen. Good luck to those still hoping for a seat.

I've been keeping track of who gets accepted or rejected from various waitlists here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=113790
using data from LSN. According to LSN no one has gotten accepted from the waitlist at UCLA. If you are taken off the waitlist it would be cool to put your numbers there so the rest of use can obsess over the data.

Over 6 months since my 'complete' email. My goal is to become a forgotten app.

You're not URM? Also, perhaps you did an absurd amount of volunteer/leadership stuff, or worked, post-grad, for several years?

Really, that doesn't qualify as URM? I had no idea how that worked. It must somehow count in the bigger picture of law school diversity, no?

Anyway, way to go for getting in! I'm on WL, waiting it out! :?

Congrats, cindytran!

But you clearly have something else in your application working in your favor. With a 162/3.78 alone, it would be phenomenally difficult to have as solid a cycle as yours. Waitlist Cornell? Waitlist Northwestern? In at GW? In at Minnesota? In at UCLA :D !

In your profile it says you have an MBA (at 23? Not bad!) That could be a selling point, considering schools like to fill their rosters with higher degrees.

Congrats, again!!!

Congratulations to Cindy, but I don't think that her case is an anomaly. UCLA, like any other top 15 schools, needs high GPAs. I have a few friends who had 160-161 LSAT with 3.7 who got in (never waitlisted). For Cindy, getting a BA + MBA at the age of 23 is impressive, and she deserves it.

For everyone else accepted off the waitlist, most were splitters with the LSAT or GPA above the 75th. I read last year's waitlist thread, and people were surprised that a 160/3.7 got off the waitlist by scoring a 169 on a June retake. 169/3.7 is a solid number for UCLA, and by no means should that applicant be seen any differently.

In my humble opinion, if you really want to get off the waitlist, go for the higher LSAT, because by now that's probably the only area of your application you have influence over.

Sandy, what do you mean "For everyone else accepted off the waitlist..." I haven't heard of anyone other than Cindy.

It's based on past years' waitlist decisions, I believe. Also, I'm speculating that there won't be much waitlist movement until June/July, since that's what I've read on past threads. But I also read that, in previous years, there have been rejections (from the WL) starting in early May, but since we haven't heard anything, this year's cycle might turn out to be a bit different.

Is anyone out there still waiting for a decision from UCLA? I had expected a ding by now, but so far nothing.

I'm already settled, but it would be nice to not have this hanging in the wind.
