I assume for all of us that it's a "silent hold" and we're on the border (hopefully between W/A rather than W/R!!)hhg wrote:Complete 12/4 no word either.calgal17 wrote:Complete 12/10 no word...OneKnight wrote:complete 11/3 with no wordVeritas wrote:

They made some decisions fairly late last cycle.
FWIW I sent an e-mail to the admissions office and they informed me that if I had not heard by the time my first deposit is due for another school they would "expedite" my decision...

Re: UCLA?
hahaha, it's not as bad as all that. I'm UCLA undergrad and I actually think it's MORE efficient/easy to be able to get records and registration stuff done without having to interact with a person. Haven't talked to a counselor once in 4 years (and before anyone makes any snarky comments, I'm graduating summa and on time). You'll get used to it!jay115 wrote:I'm going to UCLA and quite excited, but I now realize I've been spoiled during my time at my private UG. Maneuvering through UCLA's housing/financial aid website (URSA) is the most obnoxious experience, and I still don't know what the fuck is going on. I have a sinking feeling that attending a public school system and getting records, registration, etc. will be like going to any state-owned institution, like the DMV.

Re: UCLA?
I will say this - Dean Schwartz is epically helpful to perspective/incoming students. I've tried really hard not to bother him with my inane questions, but regardless of who I email at UCLA law (even the catchall "incoming@law.ucla.edu") he always responds himself. I think he's one of those guys who is tied to his iphone/bb.jay115 wrote: Haha it's not so much my private UG "breeding" per se - I went to a public high school and I by no means want to imply that I need my special ass kissed by every administrator. Rather, when I need a simple question answered right now in UG, I would just email some relevant administrator and usually get a pretty quick and clear response/assistance. Perhaps it's not so much the public/private distinction as it is the size of my UG, which is quite small.
As of now, I emailed some UCLA administrator who directs me to some website that provides no answers, but directs me to another administrator who doesn't know the answers, but refers me to her superior who doesn't answer his emails/phone, but whose secretary refers me back to the same stupid website with no answers... boo. I must have read 50 "FAQ's" that don't actually address the questions that (I think) are most obvious. For example, "when should I move into my UCLA-owned apartment? One week, two weeks, a month (etc) before classes start?" "Am I blocked out from moving in before a specified date?" "How come you haven't confirmed my residency status even though your website told me you should have confirmed it like a month ago? " "How come URSA doesn't reflect the financial aid package you emailed me?"
I dunno. Hopeful, are you UCLA Law bound? Perhaps you can help me slosh through this morass of a website.

On the housing front: Does anyone know where to look if you want a condo in a high rise/mid rise building that is relatively close to campus? I've also been recommended by virtually everyone to look at Weyburn, but I just don't want to live in grad housing. Plus, they kick you out after two years.
