when did you go complete / under initial review?amandap wrote:I have review complete, decision date 12/29. Do they mail decisions?
EDIT: Also, I believe they post something under the mailings section on the status checker that says something like "Acceptance packet mailed"

They will mail it, yes, but you should also see Admit Letter Mailed (or similar wording) under the mailings section within the next, oh, 24-48 hours (or less - only took about 5 hours for me), if you're in.amandap wrote:I have review complete, decision date 12/29. Do they mail decisions?

Yeah, I had something like "Acceptance packet mailed" when I found out. But, I just went on the checker and it's not there anymore. Has that happened to anyone else?H. E. Okay, good. As long as I'm not the only one, I'm not worried. Already got the email and the packet.NancyBotwin wrote:Huh, yeah, mine's not there anymore either. I've been decision pending since 11/5... is this a bad sign?

Yes, but don't worry, I am right there with you. It looks like we will be told we were waitlisted at the end of march.texaspecial88 wrote:I've been decision pending since 11/5... is this a bad sign?

Me:
Current Status: Application Ready for Review
Current Status Date: 12/8/2009
Decision Status: Decision Pending
Decision Status Date: 12/10/2009
Does "Decision Pending" mean that the application has been reviewed?
I want to make sure my December LSAT is factored into the decision.

I'm guessing your in the same boat with W&L? You think we are definite waitlists there considering how long we have been complete for?Zojirushi wrote:Yes, but don't worry, I am right there with you. Almost identical numbers, and I would bet money on WLs. It just means I have 2 more months to work on my LOCI. I expected an uphill battle, so it is not a big deal. Good luck.texaspecial88 wrote:I'm guessing your in the same boat with W&L? How is getting off the waitlist like? Easy hard? Do they take lots off the waitlist?Zojirushi wrote:Almost identical numbers, and I would bet money on WLs. Re: William & Mary
So, I don't want to be one of those super paranoid posters but I was looking on LSN and a lot of people with my numbers (around both medians) have been accepted with scholarships at W&M. It's one of my top choices at this point in the cycle, but I didn't write the optional essay when I first submitted in October.
Right now I'm in DP land. Is it worth sending a LOCI? Or calling/emailing the Admissions Office and asking if they'd accept the optional essay this late in the game?

If you're around the medians, you should be fine for admission. And I don't think scholarship committees consider essays for scholarships much anyway. You can always try, though, I suppose.

How many people wrote a "why W&M" essay for their application? I wrote the optional essay, but my numbers are a little low so I was thinking about writing one and adding it to my application. Is this a good idea?

I only submitted the PS, no optional essays, and I got in with $$ but I have high numbers.rockababy123 wrote:How many people wrote a "why W&M" essay for their application? Re: William & Mary
I have LSAT above their 75th and GPA a bit below median, and I wrote a "Why W&M" essay. I noticed that they have very few hispanic students and maintain no latino students organization, so I am actually enticed by the idea of starting up such an organization for the few hispanic students at the school. This would give me a great chance at a leadership position, and a chance to be active in the latino community. I mentioned all of this in my Why essay, but no acceptance so far, even though I submitted in mid-October.rockababy123 wrote:How many people wrote a "why W&M" essay for their application?
