W&M is notorious for WL being a soft reject.
What's the point of a soft reject? Why would a law school be bashful about rejecting applicants? I can see soft rejections being useful if they're trying to boost their acceptance rate but why would any school want to look less selective than they actually are?Are you sure W&M's WL isn't notorious simply because its hard to get off of it?
Thus the wait list is way to large and they over use it. I honestly believe W&M wait list more people than they outright reject. There is no need to have 1,000 people on a wait list unless you are overly paranoid.
So, since I'm new here, I thought I'd gather some info: starting with, how many folks does W&M waitlist per year? I think 1,000 sounds a bit much, but hey, I'm the one seeking answers.
When do they usually start making offers off of the waitlist? Does anyone know any historical facts on that one?
