lol i just told him not to indicate an endorsement by krispikitten because there are people in admissions who might like chinese food and will be offended despite krispikitten's overwhelming prestige.

Re: William & Mary
oh yeah. I got "withdrawn" by the Duke dean today. Anyways price, reputation and location wise W&M has always been perfect choice for me.
120K in debt from UVA sounds way too scary if that works out.
Plus I did not want to disgust people with the toilet dungeon tar.

Re: William & Mary
lol duke gave me a fee waiver (probably to include my GPA in their system and increase their selectivity rating). Only reason I applied. Hoping for more schollie distribution in the summer at W&M...

Re: William & Mary
they are probably waiting for people to deposit to give out extra funds. it wont be more than 2-3k, but still of it paid for increase in tuition i would be happy.

Re: William & Mary
w&m apparently does not see Law School as a money cow, which it is at many universities, so they want to help out people who really want to go their rather than trying to buy people out of other schools.

I would be very agreeable to an attempt by W&M to buy me out of another school.APHill wrote:w&m apparently does not see Law School as a money cow, which it is at many universities, so they want to help out people who really want to go their rather than trying to buy people out of other schools.
No actually, I'm in the "people who really want to go there" category. W&M just hasn't realized that yet. Or that's my theory...
But in all seriousness...
I'm an out-of-stater, and the fact that W&M's tuition is below 35k is pretty awesome and at least indicative of their intent to help students. Sure, I know they get SOME public funding, but I read somewhere that it was less than 10% of their total costs, and with their rank, they could get away with charging more than they do. That's just my two cents, though.

I'm guessing they wouldn't be amenable to attempting a second round of negotiations - what with the looking of the gift horse in the mouth and all.

dude you are a real glutton for punishment with your current package...you just might be the closest to FAT T28 (maybe T24 ) schollie at W&M anybody usually gets to, even with >175 LSAT.84Sunbird2000 wrote:I'm guessing they wouldn't be amenable to attempting a second round of negotiations - what with the looking of the gift horse in the mouth and all.

Re: William & Mary
Hence, the mouth closes! Haha, I can't complain about the offer - it's an amazing $$$ considering how tight W and M is forced to be with money (because they are a state school). That would be a fun alter-ego to spoof that jerk Fat T14 Scholly. Even better would be Fat T3 Scholly (same MS Paint Avatar).APHill wrote:dude you are a real glutton for punishment with your current package...you just might be the closest to FAT T28 (maybe T24 ) schollie at W&M anybody usually gets to, even with >175 LSAT.84Sunbird2000 wrote:I'm guessing they wouldn't be amenable to attempting a second round of negotiations - what with the looking of the gift horse in the mouth and all.
No, it's more that I really loved W and M, but IUB's offer is more attractive financially. If I switched the offers, I bet I'd choose W and M without a doubt. I didn't mean to be greedy.

Re: William & Mary
I hear ya. I should have applied to all the schools that gave me fee waivers and then be trading up, lol. Aint nothing wrong with being a little greedy, in a few years you will be wringing out sweet juice out of individuals and organizations for a living.

Withdrew today and gave up Fellowship offer. Good luck to the waitlisters. May my spot go to a TLS-er!

If you don't mind me asking, what was your financial package from W&M?84Sunbird2000 wrote:Hence, the mouth closes! I sent in an LoCI to Dean Wixson (although I met with Dean Thurston when I visited a few weeks ago). They told me to send it via email, and it's been 5 days. Normally offices reply within 24 hours when you send them things to add to your file... but it's right around seat deposit season, so I suppose I should wait a few more days before impatiently sending a follow-up email.

Hmm. I mailed mine in after talking to the admissions office and setting up a visit for mid-April. They didn't advise me to email. Think I should also send a follow-up email if I don't hear that it's been received?Snowdrifter wrote:I sent in an LoCI to Dean Wixson (although I met with Dean Thurston when I visited a few weeks ago).
