Temple's turn around is pretty quick for applicants above their medians, at least it was for me. Temple 1L now and I like it.

I understand there are other factors involved in who they look a, and in what order, but I thought the whole idea of a rolling admissions process was to act in a "first-come-first-served" manner?

I just really need to know where I'm going to be moving to next year due to job issues, and the sooner I hear from them, the sooner I'll know to start looking for places in and around philadelphia.

Honestly, I think that the more competitive the application, the sooner they look at it. Also, it looks like Temple isn't sending out rejections or waitlists yet, which makes sense, as they want to get a better idea of the applicant pool before drawing a line in the sand.

I don't know about that. I should have auto-admit numbers, but I'm still complete at 11/16.

Hmmm, that is interesting. I just assumed based off the LSN responses thus far (and how many other schools seem to be going about it). I haven't heard of Temple being notorious for yield protecting...

I retract my speculation :D

I'm just frustrated. I'm sure there's a logical explanation as to why they do what they do, but to outsiders it's just a black box.

I had sent them an email a while back, and they had said that they would give me a response in 8-10 weeks from the time of my completion date - and we're going on 11. Look I know I'm being persnickety about it, but I just hate being left hanging.

A similar thing happened 5 years ago when I applied to Penn for their PhD chemistry program. I had my materials in by October, and they didn't tell me whether I was in or not until may. For what it's worth they rejected me, but still, it was a ridiculous length of time to leave somebody up in the air. So at the moment I'm just having flashbacks.

Congratulations to all those accepted thus far.

Anyone else notice that Temple Law's website is down? I think they're tired of me logging on too much...

Has anyone gotten the chance to visit yet? I haven't yet and was wondering what people thought of the area, I've heard it's in kind of a bad neighborhood

Send in a LOCI, if your LSAT is way below 25th retake if possible! Good Luck!

I've visited Temple. I liked the area even though part of the school is right up against a bad neighborhood. But the law school is right on Broad street and I really liked it. But then again I was born and raised in South Philly...

I visited over the summer. The law school is in one building, with a smaller adjacent building used for administrative offices, a few smaller classrooms and meeting areas. I thought the main building (classrooms, moot court, library, etc) was modern and well maintained. It was much nicer than a few schools I visited in NYC.

Temple isn’t in the nicest section of Philadelphia, but it also isn’t an area where many of the graduate/law students live. I wouldn’t say that Penn and Drexel are in the most desirable sections of Philly, either. City Center, Chestnut Hill and parts of South Street seem to be where many students live. I’m sure there are also suburban locations where students live, too, as mass transit is convenient. If you like big cities, you might really enjoy Philadelphia. There’s a rather alarming issue of homelessness, though, which took me by surprise.

Being a New Yorker, I was a bit snobby about visiting Philly. However, once I visited there with some friends, I became quite fond of it. It's also considerably cheaper than the Northeast in terms of tuition rates and cost of living.

Feel free to PM me if you'd like additional information.

The campus itself is 100% safe and fine. From talking with others the area has improved with time. If you are someone who gets skittish in cities then you might find it bad, but the area around Temple certainly isn't like you'd see in the Wire for example... you're not going to get mugged. Since I've been here we've only had one crime related e-mail and the attempted crime failed and the person got away fine. If you chose to live in center city you can take the broad street subway and literally get off right outside the law school if you're really worried about walking around at night, for instance.

I have a 3.25 and a 162. I just realized how cheap temple's tuition is and it seems like a very solid school, and was wondering ppl's opinions on how realistic admission would be given that I'd be applying so late. Anyone with similar stats hear back or any thoughts? In at other schools where I'd be happy to go, but Temple is about 10,000$ / year cheaper.

I think the waiting is finally starting to get to me. I've been checking the status checker less over the past 2 days than usual. I want to call and say, "um, you said 8-10 weeks and it's, uh, 12...could you give me like an update or something? I'd take a free t-shirt if you got one."

These numbers are competitive and I'd say you stand an excellent chance getting in. I know someone with almost identical numbers that got in, but obviously this isn't representative of the whole.
