Re: Temple 2010!
Just got my email acceptance! Went complete 2/08. This is my first acceptance (I applied later than most of you), so I'm quite excited! Went to the Art Institute of Philadelphia a decade ago, so it would be nice to get back there from California. I'll have to wait on some others before deciding, though. Also, for those who got $$$, what were your stats? I'm 163/3.6. Do I have a chance this late?

Re: Temple 2010!
I'm trying to plan a trip down to Philly that weekend to visit Villanova on Friday 3/19 and then heading to the 3/20 Temple Open House. I'm kind of debating whether to bring my parents as well since I live in NYC and they're in Boston.changeitup wrote:Haha that's exactly what I was thinking. We're not really that close and I just kinda think it would just be weird and kinda awkward to have them there.SpaceDawg wrote:Unfortunately I won't be able to go, but I'm going to go to the one on 4/5.changeitup wrote:Is anyone going to the open house on the 20th? Also, is anyone bringing parents along? Mine are bugging me to let them come, but I don't know how I feel about that. haha they're having a difficult time finally letting go of the baby of the family...
I don't have any advice on bringing your parents because I don't know how close you are. I just know I would not.
Are you definitely going to Temple? I think I'm also going to one of the visit days in April, but only to sit in on an actual class since the one on the 20th is a mock class.

Congrats! Just wonder how long it took for your status checker to go from complete to a decision?
Mine has been at Complete for more than a month.

Re: Temple 2010!
I've been complete at Temple since December. I've a GPA above median and an LSAT far above 75th. I wonder if they're not just holding me for YP purposes.

anyone know what Temple's OCI looks like? I've checked their website and haven't been able to come across anything specific.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to log-in to the admitted student web site and they have that information under the career services link. I don't have my Temple folder with me (with the log-in name/code), so I can't check.

The area around Temple isn't so hot and I wouldn't really recommend it. The good thing is that it is right on a subway line and is easy to get to from many different areas of the city. What kind of neighborhoods do you like?Hipster/artistic/cheap/diverse/fratty/swanky/trashy? Do you need to be near a park? Water?

I PMed you with suggestions. The good thing about Philly is that it is fairly small and you can get anywhere pretty easily if you live in the major neighborhoods of the city. Old City is expensive but has a music scene. There are always bars around that have local bands playing just about anywhere in Philly. It really is a great city despite how much crap it gets on TLS. And most of the people who dump on it have never been here. I have had unbelievably good times in this city. And it's not pretentious. It's so much easier to be a poor student here than in NYC.

Second to everything SpaceDawg said. Manyunk is also a good spot if you like local bars and it definitely has a solid community feel (a pretty riverfront town within the city and only about a 15-20 minute drive from Temple). I lived there for a while going to Temple undergrad and if I attend law school there (still deciding) it'll be where I move back.

Just curious, for those who are set on Temple, what did it for you, and where else were you considering?

Re: Temple 2010!
I'll second this. During my time off from the university, I lived in Philadelphia for a year. On the surface, it's a gritty city; one has to look to find the great spots, but once one does, it's a marvelous place. There are numerous places to live in the city: Old City and Manyunk have been mentioned. I used to live four blocks from the art museum. Compared to NYC (or quite a few other major cities), my apartment rent was a steal—for a great apartment, too.SpaceDawg wrote:Headybrah wrote:hipster would be sweet because it would keep me entertained.

I'd not hesitate to move back. If only Penn and Temple would give me a decision.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
