Held. LSAT way above 75th. Is this likely to turn into a YP rejection?

This has all the makings of a YP. The people put on hold so far have incredible numbers and should be auto-admits at BC...but placed on hold while people with lower numbers have gotten in. I'm not sure what to make of it...Veritas got his letter today in SD but I didn't receive anything from LA. But I like his theory, my mailman says a regular letter takes 2 days domestic but a packet takes 3 or more...I'm hoping they take me, my numbers are terrible so they shouldn't YP me I hope unless my LSAT gets in the way.

No, I was placed on hold and LSAT was below the 25th but GPA was close to the 75th.

What does that mean? Anything to draw from this hold?

As predicted, "Held for further review."

166/3.29, good LORs and strong softs.

Starting the "gloomy posts" yesterday was just my way of venting frustration about Early Action not helping applicants receive decisions sooner. I guess it's good I'll know something by the end of February, but my guess is that is when BC hopes to have most of its seats filled/applications received.

And to those who said I shouldn't be so pessimistic, I correctly predicted what was coming after it was mailed. If my decision was magically changed in the envelope while in custody of the USPS then that is a neat trick!

Now time to wait for other decisions this week. I'm less pessimistic about those.

That this cycle is proving difficult to predict?

I'm in FL and didn't receive my packet after bugging my mom all day (she above all people hates that BC sends to the permanent address). My GPA is pretty much at their 75%ile, but LSAT is way above 75%ile. Hoping for good news tomorrow and not a frustrating hold or worse. All these holds have me nervous.

I believe we have very similar numbers, and I +1,000,000,000,000 to your post.

Lol, you have higher LSAT. BTW, did you apply to BU/have you heard back from them yet? I'm feeling left out with everyone getting their calls!
And Good luck tomorrow, if you EAed at BC - hope the mailman brings good tidings! That goes for everyone!

I did apply to BU on 11/12. I was "complete" on 11/24 (that was what they told me when I called). Still haven't heard back grrrrr.

I did EA @ BC. Hopefully we both get a big package today! Good luck to you an everyone on this lovely Friday (actually it's hideous and dreary in south Florida).

FWIW, received my rejection last night.

GPA slightly >25%, LSAT >75%. Had already been accepted @ BU, so I was very surprised by the flat-out rejection. Oh well. :(

Kinda surprised I got deferred from BC. Got into Fordham and BU so far. Deferred at Cornell though I was expecting that. Still, have better numbers than some people getting in here and great job experience in the field. My guess is my undergrad...went to a great school but not in NE. Plus I'm a Jew and BC doesn't seem to have too many of those around.

I find it weird that people that got in to BU are getting no love from BC.

Just curious- Is there any evidence (even anecdotal) to back up this New England undergrad theory? Or is it just sort of something somebody assumed at some point?

I certainly hope that attending a NE college makes a difference. This is not to say that I would agree with this approach.

I went to a NE college and should be receiving my EA decision today.

I think they prefer graduates to remain in the area where their job prospects are better--because of the reputation of the school in that region. Graduates that remain in the area would typically have a better connection with the school and therefore be more likely to donate to it, especially if the school helped them land a good job.

Most people who attend college in NE have strong roots in New England to some degree and are therefore more likely to remain New Englanders, especially when then they're Patriots/Red Sox fans!

Just my 2 cents.....

I got in yesterday with 25th/75th LSAT and GPA numbers, and I didn't go to college in NE. Who knows...

I hope everyone waiting gets good news today!

Rejection letter last night. 164/3.3. No big surprise there.

(But you know, I'm different, I have great softs... great LORs... upward GPA trend...:) )

G'luck to the rest of you!
