Take heart, V.

You have BU! I'd be happy with that. Ecstatic, even.

This convinces me that BU and BC really do talk sometimes, lol...

Or that they read the boards.
Even if they're on the board, how would they match up Veritas with an applicant? Unless you use Veritas all over and they googled you or something.... I'm officially confused. It doesn't sound like YP to me either...
Lets call and ask on the behalf of veritas!

we seek the truth!

even if they read the boards and match me up, I don't do anything to warrant someone holding something against me.

If it would be a case of finding you on the boards (thats why I go back and edit any post with my stats) then it wouldn't necessarily mean they're holding anything against you. If they DO come here and know who you are, perhaps they see you've been accepted to BU and figure that since its' ranking is higher, that you'd go to BU over BC.

I don't think you do either, but it's not at all unusual that people only get into one of the schools. Just a possible explanation.

I would say that is far from what could happen. If they were to practice that kind of YP, they would be stupid and I would not want to go there

it was BC > BU for me, with all things even.

I don't think it's that stupid, considering that even though they're lower ranked, their acceptance rate is about 20% compared to BU's 26%.

Additionally, it just may be the luck of the draw. No YP and no board searching, just plain ol' rejection. But this totally SCARES me lol. Because you sent in all that stuff and they still didn't accept you! I sent in all the stuff you did... what if they won't accept me.

If they DID come to the board, they'd know BC was my top choice!
I would be SHOCKED if any admissions person made that kind of assertion. Based on personal conversations and just RATIONAL thinking I highly doubt someone would come on here, see that I had gotten into BU and reject me because they think I will go there due to ranking.

Two peer schools in the same market. Rankings mean crap at that point, it's all about personal preference. I'm at total peace with this decision, I have other options I would pick over BC - but I feel that the above line of thinking is juvenile.

(wishes you so much GL cherry!!)

True but that doesn't mean it's not a possibility. Maybe they saw you got into something better than even BU. Maybe they don't like your posts here. I don't know. All these maybes are contingent upon a very small tiny likelihood that they even go on TLS.

Edit: And thanks for the luck! I need it!

Ninja edit there  , no I was referring to the adcomms who could possibly do that.

I really doubt that they really care if people get into BU or not. It just seems one that BU tends to be much more numbers centric and that BC is looking for well... something. However, it seems to me that BC might be trying to raise their LSAT median to 167.

DR 2/20 here, still haven't received my ding yet. I'm nearby you in Eastern Canada.

Are we really talking about the whole "I was denied at BC but accepted at BU (or vice versa) and this must mean that the schools communicate with each other"? I love conspiracy theories haha. I'm sure they have neither the time nor the inclination to check this board.

With this said-- Vertias I'm really sorry man, especially since BC was a strong contender for you. I'm shocked regarding your decision and wish you the best with other schools. Let me know your final choice!!

Haha, chillax. I've been decision pending since 1/2. There are people who have been waiting more than me.

Theyve been handling the EA hold applicants recently, so at this point they should be moving back to the general applicant pool.

Okay, I hope this isn't an asshole thing to do but I thought you guys waiting for decisions from BC or hoping to get in off the waitlist would have the best intentions in your answers. Here's my situation...

I've been accepted to BC and while it is an awesome AWESOME institution, my first choice law school is Penn. If I don't get into Penn, I'll be headed to BC next year. I went complete at Penn in late November, under committee review in late Jan. and then again in mid Feb. Others who have applied later than I have already been rejected so I feel like the adcoms are not sure whether to admit me or not. I feel like my app was very complete and targeted towards Penn. I wrote three optional essays, which is the max. they allow. My question is this: Do you think it would help or hurt me to write a LOCI before receiving a decision? Would it hurt my chances?

Hopefully you guys see why I am asking this here. I figure if anybody wants me to get into Penn, it's somebody who may get my seat when it opens up at BC. I really appreciate any advice or insight. Thanks!

A lot of us pending would like to see you give up ur seat, lol, but I do think this is better on the penn thread. Many on the BC thread don't know the Penn thread and don't know Penn. For example, I know BC's attitude towards LOCIs but I don't know Penn's. So I'd recommend that you ask this over at the Penn thread, where people are more familiar with the law school.

My official answer to your question would be to CALL the admissions office and ASK. It's not too hard and relatively risk-free.

Hope this helps!
