That's it! USC is my favorite viewbook of all...although UCLA is pretty nice too.

Yeah guys... it would be insane to try to live in Westwood or Santa Monica. I live downtown, and it is wonderful. I live in a really great fancy apartment with a huge pool, two hot tubs, workout facilities, a giant community playroom, theater room, many study rooms, and my 650 sq foot 1 BR apartment costs $1469/month. I take the bus from directly outside of my apartment to campus. It takes about ten minutes. Many of the really cool bars in LA are within walking distance of my apartment. I have a huge fancy grocery store a block away. A big movie theater is two blocks away. There's always tons of pedestrian traffic, so I feel safe walking around at any time. The really cool areas where most of the young art galleries and restaurants are are within easy biking distance. Los Feliz, Silverlake, and Echo Park are all really cool areas to live. Or Koreatown is really nice too. Cheap rent, very very safe, and great food. Koreatown would also be like 10-15 minutes by bus to campus.

Moral of the story: If you want to live in Westwood, go to UCLA. (I personally would never live there. That's one of the reasons I didn't apply to UCLA, I'd rather move across the country than leave the Eastside of LA for the Westside.) And don't complain about traffic in LA if you're looking to live super far away. That's your own doing. That's like me living in Berkeley and complaining how far away it is from Stanford. There's a lot of very nice and fun and reasonably priced areas in LA.

My Under Review Date just updated again to 12/11. When does SC typically make decisions?

No, it got updated 12/11 to 12/11, but I just checked it today. I didn't expect anything to happen for a while because it updated once before like three days earlier.

Good luck and I hope an acceptance packet comes your way shortly! If you wouldn't mind sharing, what date did you go complete and/or get the email saying that you would hear back in 8-10 weeks? thanks.

Complete 10/26, Status checker e-mail 11/25. UR 12/9(If I remember correctly) and now 12/11. I hope so as well! I would absolutely love to go to USC. The last time I was in LA, I was actually a homeless teenager, and I would love to go back successful, and work with some of the programs that helped me out when I was 13 and 14.

Chances are my numbers aren't good enough, but I've got some interesting diversity characteristics, volunteer work, and am a URM, so you never know. Cautiously Optimistic.

Thanks again! Either way, I'll let you guys know what happens.

What a Hollywood-worthy story that would be if you went to USC!

My status checker still says complete as of 11/1. I got the Rothman scholarship mailing, so I'm wondering why I'm not UR. Anyone else get the scholarship mailing, but status checker doesn't show UR yet?

Yep. Complete on 11/30 and no UR (although, I guess that's expected because a decent number of people who got the scholarship offer probably went complete before me). Does it definitely cut down on the 8-12 week period if you got the Rothman scholarship mailing?

Second-hand reports say yes, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too high.

when did you go complete? if you sent it on 10/1 like your LSN states, you already passed the 10 week mark. what does your USC status checker say? at least UR?

I submitted on 10/2 and am still listed as "Complete 10/14."

I'll be withdrawing my application sometime this week though.

Ooff. Not saying that this person isn't a flame, but we should let him be innocent until proven guilty for now. After all, he hasn't rampaged through the HYS threads.

it seems like the 2 people who are at DR are URM's, so USC might be looking at URM's first before everyone else...

but damn i'm still not accepted anywhere... at least you have BU under your belt already... god i hope i get accepted somewhere by the end of this month... or i'm going to have the worst holiday of my life...
