I think the stigma relates mostly to Ph.D. programs -- if you want to be a professor, the rest of the academic community will give you funny looks if you get your bachelor's and doctorate from the same school in quick succession.finalaspects wrote:i always thought schools hated taking their undergrads for grad school. something about academic incest? maybe it only applies to other fields? or am i completely off and its about hiring as a professor someone from that school.cardinalandgold wrote:I went to 'SC for undergrad and have yet to hear a peep from them. Re: USC 2010!
Did anyone else receive TWO waitlist packets? I was waitlisted back in early March and then received a second identical packet this Monday (3/19)... I also went back under review on my status checker on 3/19... I called their office and the lovely woman I talked to just kept saying "wow... that's so weird... wow I have no idea what's going on" then said she would call me back.
Am I the subject of some giant clerical prank??
ideas??

this anti-electron forcefield wall at 166 is what worries me about the 4/20 batch, even if it does seem urm/graduate degree heavy.
my name is not seantrel henderson or dillon baxter or kyle prater or................., so i am fully expecting the ding.
assuming you have 166 then? what about your GPA? they don't seem to be rejected 166 and high GPA people just wait. just keeping them waiting.
For what my own experience is worth, I as WL'd on 4/15 with a 166 and a below 25-percentile GPA (though, to be fair, my transcript reads like a de facto 4.0). Anyway, I just wanted to throw my own case in this mix to indicate some hope for the 166ers. Not that I am "in" yet, but my case should demonstrate that USC is willing--even at this late time--to look at more than a prospective admits' affect upon their USNews numbers.
Good luck!

Do they only show what their decision is on the status checker if you've been waitlisted? Do we hae to wait for rejections/acceptance letters in the mail?

When I talked to someone in admissions they seemed pretty certain their scholarship funds would be gone by the time they admitted waitlisters... but you never know "grants" and such may still come your way.

Yeah, I'm very much not-in-review. Not that it matters. At this point I won't be in review for more than a couple of days, anyways.finalaspects wrote:you're not in review yet?ViP wrote: Haven't you been in review for awhile, though?

still sittin' at complete since 1/29! grrr. I know a lot of people have been complete since earlier, but man it's frustrating to check every day hoping for some movement! at this point it doesn't really matter since i already had to put a deposit down elsewhere, but i wanna know!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
