Reverse-Splitters Unite! - The 2010 Reverse-Splitter Thread

Post by ViP » Tue Oct 20, 2009 6:19 pm

It had to be done...

This thread is the new home for those of us that sport a 3.75+ GPA and an LSAT score from 164 down.

Discuss school lists, splitter-like questions, acceptances/rejections, etc.

It's OK to be a reverse-splitter on TLS. You belong, too. I promise.

But you found your way to this thread and it's your new home, so you have that going for you.

Really, though.

You're fine. You have a shot at plenty of first tier schools... The only reason you should be depressed is if you were initially banking on a T14.

I wasn't, so I'm ok. I'm not really worried. I'm a NYSter, so I'd be pretty content going to Buffalo which I'm a shoe-in for.

I don't fit in any splitter category. I'm not 170+ or below 164. Sad day for being left out!

Haha I was thinking about that...

All I know is that a 165+ can't possibly qualify as a low score, unless you're applying T10.

If you have a 165+ and a relatively low GPA (<3.2 or so), you should definitely have a place in the traditional splitters thread.

Then again, there are plenty of applicants that aren't splitters at all.

I'm 3.97/161

Not sure if I'm retaking in Dec. or not. Thinking about just applying with this score, so I'm interested to see where people in the same position are looking.

I actually didn't take it as mean at all. lol. I was expecting someone to say "don't waste your money and your life on law if you don't have a 170." So I was happy to see a half sarcastic response along with a serious response attached. (I expect the next poster in this thread to say that however)

I belong here!

3.89/157

Hopefully I can get into a Tier 1...but I don't feel too confident at this point.

LSAT 161 GPA 3.76

Planning to apply to

Minnesota
Wisconsin
Iowa
William Mitchell
St. Thomas
Hamline
American
perhaps: BU or BC

Probably looking to stay in midwest, think i'll throw in American and BU or BC though just for the heck of it. My number 1 choice is Minnesota but would be fairly happy with Wisconsin or Iowa.

With that monster of a GPA, you shouldn't lose hope on the first tier.

Of course, a 157 is low by Tier-1 standards, but you're undoubtedly an anomaly with that T14 GPA.

As long as you're somewhat realistic with your expectations, your cycle may happily surprise you.

3.92/165, so I technically don't meet your criteria, but I am facing the same issues as the rest of you are.

Thanks. I plan to blanket schools between 30-50 range and see what I have to work with.

When I put my numbers in LSP, I get nearly all "Considers" in that range...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Are you applying anywhere else in T14? Seems like you have a shot at a few.

Yep I belong in here too! 160/3.88.

Because of my lower than expected LSAT I'm in the process of building a new list of schools to apply to. The ones I'm hoping for now are SMU, George Mason, UNC, and American maybe? I'm still looking. I just hope I'm not overestimating my chances. Where are you guys looking?

I'm applying to a load of schools. I was gonna apply to 10, but I've gotten a lot of waivers so after tomorrow I'll be at 16. You can check me out on LSN, same name as here.

Your numbers are fine. That GPA will take you farther than you think.

I actually like your chances at Bloomington. LSAT is above the 25th %, and your GPA is above the 75th %.

Make sure you apply EARLY, take your PS seriously, and look to write "optional" essays that express your personal interest in the school.
