I didn't even bother with Hastings. If you are a URM, you might stand a chance there. Davis is a crapshoot...I'm not expecting much, but maybe a waitlist. I think, for us, it comes down to our softs/personal statement to differentiate from the crowd.

Yeah I'm not a URM but I did apply to LEOP. Ugh Davis is pissing me off because I submitted my application on Nov. 6, but it's STILL awaiting evaluation. WTF?!

159/3.74 with unusual, but not necessarily strong, softs. I'm very happy about being accepted to Minnesota and Iowa. When I posted my naive "What are my chances?" thread, a few folks told me to not bother with even with T1. Anyhow, good luck to all my fellow high GPA splitters.

Wow - wish I had found this site earlier. I've really got a substantial reverse splitter problem. 3.9 from a top 10 school with an MA, 3 years of work experience, great recs, but a 155 on the LSAT. I do have a history of standardized tests not predicting my success in school all along which I have included in an addendum. Just to confirm my suspicions, do I have a chance at Tulane or UMD? Does anyone have any success stories with being a real reverse splitter and a non-URM that still frequents these boards?

I put in my apps to a scattering of a couple of T30s (ha not holding my breath), a bunch between 50-100, and a couple safeties. Hopefully I'll hear back before too long.

Kinda crazy, because I was in the top 5% for SAT and GRE. I really didn't expect a 157. Had my heart set on USC, but oh well. Can always transfer out after my first year if my grades are good enough and my heart is still set.

And to preempt, I don't want to retake. If I put law school off a year, I'll chicken out.

Have to stay in SoCal, so that really only leaves me Loyola and Southwestern. (Pepperdine and Chapman aren't exactly the best environments for a gay man).

Loyola would be great (I think), and I'm starting to warm to Southwestern.

I chose Chapman with a full ride over Loyola with a decent scholarship, and I would do it again, but it depends on what you're looking for. I wasn't aiming for biglaw and want to work in Orange County, so it made sense. Plus I just felt like Chapman was a better fit, which is more important than 0L's tend to think.

As for Chapman not being a good environment for a gay man, I'm curious what makes you think that. While Dean Eastman is conservative, I wouldn't call it a conservative school. Both the students and faculty are pretty well distributed across the political spectrum.

Hmm... LSAC's information is definitely incorrect. I don't know about LGBT faculty and administration, but there definitely is an LGBT student organization called Outlaw: http://www.chapman.edu/law/students/outlaw/. I do know a couple LGBT students

There's also at least 1 LGBT specific course. You can browse the course descriptions here: http://www.chapman.edu/law/programs/courses.asp. The only course that seems directly LGBT specific is Sexuality, Gender Identification, and the Law, although some other courses probably address the same issues (like Law and Social Sciences).

I'm biased in pushing Chapman, but I'd urge you to contact someone from Outlaw; they could probably address your concerns a lot more specifically. Or feel free to PM me with any questions.

what do you think the threshold is on the lsat here for the splitting? i have 3.84/167 and based on the medians it looks like a split. any experience with those stats out there? i'm asian/haupa so i am not getting any URM traction either.

Your numbers should be competitive for Cornell, Michigan, and Northwestern (with WE).

Hey everyone,

My numbers are 3.9/158 - not an impressive LSAT score, but got into UC Hastings on Jan. 7th (yes, I'm that person on LSN). I remember someone telling me to not bother with Hastings or Davis with my score, but I applied anyway - I have nothing to lose, right? I applied to Hastings' LEOP, but I got in through first cycle without LEOP, meaning that LSAT SCORE ISN'T EVERYTHING, AND GPA DOES COUNT. So to all my fellow reverse splitters - have faith!! Our hard work will pay off
