173 / 2.9, out of school for 5 years with solid work experience, currently working on a Masters with a 3.8 GPA
applied in early January to accommodate new grades and LORs...

Harvard - i'm an optimist :)
Columbia - fee waiver, why not
G'town
BC
BU
NUSL

The pool is a little limited, I'm tied to the northeast.
The wait is KILLING me!!\

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!
Wow, you are made for Northwestern. Sucks you're tied to the NE. I don't know what NUSL is, but you're best shot is going to be GULC off the waitlist. Don't they have an extended ED option like UVA? I'd try that if I were you.
Yea. I'd see about Gtown part time. He has a shot at that. Other than that its probably BU.

Yeah, I'm a New Englander through and through, I'm really hoping to be in Boston, BC would be amazing! NUSL is northeastern, and GULC does have an extended ED, but I'm not fully ready to commit to DC yet...though it would be tough to turn down...
BC and BU have been seemingly splitter-averse this cycle. Good luck though and be sure to post your results here!

Would I be best off changing my UVA app to ED for a shot at t14? Things are going poorly so far.

Bad news for the rest of my cycle. ='(
They're only splitter friendly earlier. Also you need [strike]173+ LSAT and a 3.1 minimum GPA[/strike] a 170 and an ED contract.
ftfy
No there was a 3.0 (with rounding) lower limit even with ED.
Eh, I'd say it depends on the app, particularly the timing. There are two on LSN with GPAs (slightly) below 3.0, including our very own aznflyingpanda, but both of those dudes are hundredths of a point away. Although maybe they round... if so I'll take my rounding in the form of a 180 plzkthxbai.

WL's definitely count, especially if it is somewhere that you want to go!

Yup, in at Cornell yesterday. Hang in there, I'm sure most schools still have a few acceptances up their sleeves. :)

Cool, in that case I got 8 of em. (I was especially pleased with UofC's though, first decision to really surprise me in a good way.)

Blue - congrats on Cornell, what are your numbers?

Thanks! Not only do I have the splitter issue (175/3.0, 10 yrs out of UG, 20+ years WE), but I applied really late, so I have a feeling I'm going to be waiting a long time.

Schools love non-traditional apps though, and it sounds like you have a lot to offer in that regard. Also, that's a lot of WE -- did you work f/t during undergrad?

I dropped out of UG halfway through my Soph. year, worked for 10+ years, then went back F/T for 2 years to finish. I'm hoping that my WE will be enough for them to scrounge around and find a spot for me, even this late in the cycle.

Yeah, and if you had a strong upward trend in your last 2 1/2 years, that'll probably count in your favor too. If you screwed up your first 1 1/2 years, you're probably far enough removed from it that they won't count it as heavily as they would for someone who went straight thru UG and was applying with little or no WE.

That's what I'm counting on. I had a 4.0 in those last 2 years. I just hope I'm not too late for this cycle.

We have similar situations. My GPA trend:

1996-1998 3.25
1998-2000 1.65
2008-2009 3.80

My WE isn't very impressive though.

i challenge anyone to provide a wonkier GPA trend than mine:

00/01: 1.87
00/02: 2.08
00/03: 1.17

GPA: 1.68 (54 semester hours)

04/05: 3.81
05/06: 3.95
06/07: 2.36 (this is where i lose any trend credibility)

GPA: 3.36 (103 semester hours)

cGPA: 2.78

173 / 2.93 - 5yrs WE & a shiny new masters gpa of 3.8 (from Vermont Law)

Here's the cycle-

Harvard - Ding (wow!)
BU - Ding
Georgetown - WL
BC - WL
Colorado - In
Northeastern - In
Vermont - In w/ full scholarship

still waiting to get my rejection letter from Columbia....

so it looks like I'm sitting tight @ Vermont (I'm an enviro guy so it's fine by me!) - if BC calls my mind may change...
most of the decisions took a REALLY long time to come in.

there's really not much you can do about a poor UGPA short of curing cancer.

How'd all y'all fellow splitters make out?

I'm on waitlists at Georgetown, UCLA, USC, Duke, Michigan, and Virginia. I'm also held at Northwestern and Columbia, while still waiting on NYU. This could either be the best cycle or the worst cycle.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
