By "decisions", you mean waitlists and rejections. There was only one reported admission from the entire pool of about fifty people notified that day (plus one person who eventually got in off the waitlist). There were a handful of acceptances the day before, though, and the closest to what could be considered a "batch" at the end of March (4 accepts 3/29-3/30). There was also a batch of acceptances on 3/1 and a couple on 3/15.

I'm curious if anyone knows: the batch of rejections (my batch  ) that came out a week or two ago - were they immediately rejected (ie no faculty review, just straight up "nope!" from the adcomm dean) or did they pass through to the faculty?

I will consult my feelings, and I suggest that you do the same.

What? You mean write certs that are heard by the SCOTUS. Yeah, that'll probably help you get into Yale.

P.S. what's up with yale's 9-day silence? calm before the storm? or are they catching up on all their rejections? :(

Snail mail, yes. Small white envelope.

It is amazing how much shorter the Yale thread is than every other thread.

Yale is 38 pages. Stanford is closest at 49 pages.

Yale has a lot fewer applicants. It's not even on the first page of schools on LSN.

I know, but if you think about the self-selecting nature of the people on TLS, you'd think it'd be up there.

If you talk about Yale too much or too loudly it might be able to find out where you're hiding and eat you alive.

That's my guess.

But seriously, I suspect it's a combination of the slow pace of decisions paired with the lack of a status checker and the "who the hell knows" nature of their decision process.

Not that many decisions have been given out. If you look at most other schools (barring Stanford, which hasn't accepted that many, eitehr), acceptances have been rolling in, and along with the acceptances come speculation (why haven't I heard yet?!?!). With Yale, I imagine that most people just assume that they're not going to hear from them until March/April.

Also, I visited Yale yesterday, and their admissions office is hard at work. They have paper copies of everyone's file, and they are giving each the thorough review it deserves. Also, they said that they really don't care when an applicant submits to LSAC (before the deadline, of course) -- they give equal weight to all applications.

To address a few sentiments above, I'm pretty sure all accepts and rejects up until now were ad-comm decisions, as from what I understand, faculty review starts in mid/late February.

Wow, are you serious? Why even waste the postage? Makes no sense.

No idea. I think it was only one school, actually, now that I think of it... but it has clearly stuck in my memory.

I'm guessing Bard.

Are you saying that Asha doesn't even give apps to the faculty until Feb? I had no idea. May I inquire as to where you got this information?

I'm officially not applying to Yale. You're welcome!

(Because, you know, I would've given you all a serious run for your money. )
