One of my hot button issues. People are so critical of the lifestyle choices of the obese. Well the poor are disproportionately obese. There are a number of factors involved. Some is cost of and access to healthy foods. As you mention, many poor urban areas don't have full sized grocery stores in their communities. But fast food can be found in their communities with ease and is actually cheaper than eating in a healthy manner. Also, many working poor work two jobs to try and hold things together and many are raising children as well. So telling them to stop being lazy and to exercise is cruel. It isn't laziness - these people are working their asses off.
