I'm an admit and I lurk here a lot ;) does that count?

You must be sorely disappointed by the totally unrelated tangents we (the non-admits) bring here.

Admit? Check
Lurking? Check
Sorely disappointed by the totally unrelated tangents? Check

I think the Yale 2013 thread is the one with useful questions and informative answers.

Eh, I read that the other day. It's mostly about housing options = boring for those of us who probably won't be living in New Haven for three years.

The 2013 thread is where it's at for information. The current students have been daring us to ask them more questions; they are hungry to give advice. I encourage (or "dare") those with questions about Yale to post them on that thread.

It's funny how different threads become the repository of Yale discussion for admits and not-yet-admits alike. For the class of 2012, it was "Yale Class of 2012" in Class Forums, and for 2011 it was, bizarrely, in "Discuss your law school."

Due to the fact that I feel my chances at Yale are probably in the neighborhood of 1 in 4, I think it would be a bit presumptuous to start asking Yale-specific questions before I am privileged and surprised by a call from the 203.

You made it through the initial review by Asha, Crack. She's definitely stated that your chances are still in a minority, but at least the minority is sizable compared to that 7% acceptance rate.

Crackberry, I love looking at your image of the golden gate. I've spent many nights on the Marin headlands from the very vantage point, listening to Pink Floyd and over looking the ocean. I don't want to wade into hyperbole here, but SF is the greatest city of the past 1500 years.

Considering he applied in September and there have been tons of rejections through early December, I feel that he's going to at least get a crack at faculty review.

(Get it?)

EDIT: Oops, forgot that he sent his Yale App in 5 months later than the rest of them

I am not nearly as awesome as you guys think I am.

And Pausanias, you certainly waded into hyperbole with that comment. So 1500 years ago, what was cooler than SF? Constantinople? Rome? Athens?

Constantinople. Rome and Athens were both pretty degraded by the that time. I don't know why Yale can't be in the Sunset district. I guess it would be too close to a certain school that has a color for a mascot (and I don't mean Crimson).

Being a colored something is cool (e.g., Crimson Tide), but just a color? Moreover, they used to be something noble, "The Indians." Then they changed it to a color be more PC. Please.

There are at least three Ivy League schools with colors as mascots (Harvard, Cornell, Dartmouth). What is Columbia's mascot? Are they the Lions?

TBF, comparing Cal to Yale is like comparing my fourth grade self portrait to the Mona Lisa.

I agree, if you are comparing the schools' athletic prowess or the strength of their graduate programs :D

Also, by what measures would you be comparing your self portrait and the Mona Lisa ? If you are trying to see which one more accurately resembles an incoherent stick-figure drawing, then I'd venture that your self portrait would win hands down.

Shouldn't you go back to taking classes at Metro State's Boulder campus?

At least Stamford is located in the financial capital of Connecticut. BoalTTT is in Oakland - the most dangerous city in America.

I graduated in December with my associate's degree. Or whatever they give out here.
