Did anyone else get a letter from Yale that encourages them to apply? It came with examples of past personal statements and 250 word essays that were successful. It said they are looking for "qualified minorities," and their records show that I have not applied. I am thinking about it. I also got an e-mail from someone from Yale encouraging me to apply or contact them for more info.

Anyone sending an addendum on re-take LSAT score vs. the old one? Is that expected or a nuissance? :?

I am curious if anyone knows how YLS will admit in January/February. Is it a weekly "wave" or something like that?

I got one, but I am not sure I should apply. I am a minority but not underrepresented. LSAT around 25% and GPA around 75%. Index, according to LSP, is below medium. Soft is pretty bland. Nothing would cause a "wow." Does Yale usually invite more people to apply to boost its acceptance rate, or it doesn't need to?

A bunch of minorities (though not necessarily URMs) get this invitation every year. I'm not sure if there's any correlation between getting an invite and getting accepted. I don't really think there is.

Got the exact same package and e-mail. I actually e-mailed the 1L back asking what my actual chances for getting in were. I'm probably going to call the reps they gave the info for to see what's really up. Other than that...really though...what are the chances? lol...

I received a mailed invitation from YLS to apply. I am not a minority. It only included a signed letter from the dean and a fee waiver application -- no personal statement or 250 examples.

Anyone else?

last year's LSN shows no decisions before late feb -- a whole cluster around 2/21. looks like we may have a few good weeks to wait.

I actually just e-mailed Yale about this yesterday, and got a response today. They do accept Feb. retakes, but they won't hold your application because of it. For my situation, they said that I will probably receive a decision before the Feb. scores come out as I have been "complete and Under Review since October." I'm excited to know that I will probably get a decision from them this month, though, whether it is good, bad, or ugly.

I know some people who applied last cycle who got decisions in January. These were submitted pre-holiday break (one of them over Thanksgiving, not sure about the exact timing of the other.). So it's possible.

Those 2/21-folk might have been the first admits from faculty review.

Nonetheless, the odds are on a long wait for most people.

So in other words, we should all retake in Feb in hopes of getting a 180?

Did you retake in December by chance? (trying to see if I too am "complete")

Bump. This thread was way at the bottom of page 3.

Also, did anyone notice that there appear to be one or two new acceptances on LSN?

Probably, but I'm not sure. Considering I came into this cycle thinking that Chicago would maybe be my best acceptance, I haven't yet done much due diligence in researching HY.

Gotcha. Also, their Twitter updates make my heart stop. Sigh.
