Lol! Is it just me, or does it seem like a lot less people are applying to Yale? People with blow-me-away numbers, too. Even on LSN, the applicant lists for the other schools are so long now, but Yale's is still only 1 page.

it's because their application is so annoying

and people also apply later in the cycle because timing is less of a factor

I'm in. I actually think I stand a better chance here than Harvard because I tailored my app pretty well and wrote a rocking 250. Good luck, everyone.

This is it for me. This is one of the only apps I haven't submitted because I want to take more time on my 250 and Y doesn't care about early apps.

I'm sure you'll be following this thread closely.

I'm in. I think my 250 could swing me an acceptance, so I'm going for it.

So while we're at it... when was the earliest someone heard back in the past?

Quick look at last year's LSN data shows absolute earliest acceptances found out mid-December. Most found out February or later whether they were accepted or rejected.

Has anyone else gone through about 20 Y250 topics? I think I finally found the winner over the weekend.

Mine was pretty random, but some of the best writing I've ever done. So we'll see.

+1 on random. I also tried a humorous essay meant to be read in 100% literal simplicity, which I know is a controversial angle. But I know it's well written, and I know that I probably have to take some chances to get into Yale. We'll see how this goes.

Dear XXXX,
Your application for admission to Yale Law School is complete. We will communicate with you again when a decision has been reached.

Because the entire faculty are involved in reviewing applications, our review process naturally takes longer than that of most schools. The majority of our decisions are made in February, March, and April. We ask that you please do not contact the Admissions Office to inquire about the status of your application; frequent phone and email inquiries delay consideration of applications.

Thank you for your interest in Yale. We look forward to reviewing your application.

I'm applying to Yale, and I've finished my PS, resume, and 250, but I figured I might as well wait another week or two and see if any other 250 topics occur to me.

I'm intrigued by the confidence. What was the topic?

Basically an image of childhood (nothing dramatic at all) as seen through the lens of one aspect of it. I played with the organization a bit, so it is more like a prose poem than an essay, so it allowed me to show off a more personal writing style that I didn't feel was appropriate for a personal statement.

That said, the fact that it's about something not dramatic or more imperative than my childhood might go to show you that at 21, I'm not nearly interesting enough to get into Yale.

it's kind of funny seeing how everyone is so confident about their chances at other schools and when it comes to yale its pretty much an unsolvable mystery. i also love the fact that its like 3,000 applicants all throwing hail marys at the same time.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
