i'm a fl resident and i'm torn between FSU, UF, and UM.
obviously, FSU and UF tuition is highly attractive (and better ranked than UM) but I would love to live in South Fla. UF has been dropping in ranks over the years, while FSU is slowly climbing... UF is still considered the best state school, but can anyone shed some light on the recent movements in usnews rankings? would FSU be better investment? additionally, I want to hear some opinions on UM. I heard its well established in south fla (good job prospects for people wanting to practice there) and UM has higher median starting salary than both FSU and UF... any thoughts?

FSU is def on of my top choices, but simply put, do u guys think UF is a better school? if i wanted to live in south fla, would miami be a better choice??

if you want to live in Miami, Miami likely WOULD be a better school. The school does very, very well in the region, and has a corporate bent if that's your thing. FL is very regionalized though. Miami does very well in Miami; Stetson does surprisingly well in the Tampa/St. Pete area; FSU places a lot of people in government jobs in Tallahassee and in other, smaller firms in the area; and UF does pretty consistently well throughout the state, from the panhandle to Orlando to SoFlo.

Simply put, UF isn't a better school than FSU. It may be better FSU in some areas, but FSU may be better in others. The two atmospheres between the two schools are also markedly different. If you want to live in Miami, UM might not be a better choice; it depends on what career path you are looking at. If you want to work in a big law firm, perhaps UM has an edge over FSU. If you want a job with the government, then the two schools are probably equal.

The only real difference between UM and FSU/UF is cost as UM is way more expensive.

What time of day have people been receiving phone calls from FSU? Do you think it is acceptable to request a t-shirt by phone if I am accepted?

I never went under review. My status went from "incomplete" to "complete" then "decision will arrive by mail." I wouldn't worry about it.

I still haven't received my acceptance snail mail or phone call, but I did get an email to apply for a scholarship. Did anyone else get this today? Any anecdotal evidence of this being a good sign for $$$?

I got the email too, nothing as come snail mail yet though I did get a phone call about being accepted.

decision 1/19, received call on 1/21, and finally received the letter today (1/25).
i live in fl, so i wouldn't worry about it just yet... i think they send everything via snail mail.


*btw i went from incomplete to decision mailed (approx 2 wks) so i wouldn't really worry about the status.

received the call around noon. whats with the t-shirts? is my acceptance less worthy than peolpe receiving shirts?

I've been "application complete" since 12/15 with 162/3.4. It seems like most people are hearing within a couple weeks. Not sure what this means. Should I try calling soon?

Got the email for $$$ yesterday along with the snail mail acceptance letter(I live in NJ).
