It's one of the best parts of Chicago, which makes living a bit expensive, but you can always move farther away and commute. But it seems like more than half live near campus. The school is in between the Hancock, and Navy Pier, and has a lake view.

The students there were really great. Friendly, interesting and mature. And by mature, I don't mean boring. Chicago has a great nightlife and it seems like a lot take advantage of it.

The admitted students were uniformly 23+, but there weren't too many over 30. It was like the mix you'd find at entry level jobs in any corporation.

I can't compare it to other schools, but I feel like I made the right choice EDing.

Where else are you admitted.

I'm in my mid 20's but I still like to have drinks and enjoy myself when possible. As long as there are some people down for that I"ll be fine.

As of now I'm admitted with decent scholarship to W&L and waitlisted at most of the lower T14 (PR at Duke SPWL at GULC). I think I have a decent chance of getting off of one after deposits (I'm 3.5/171) and I'm trying to decide when and where to send that unconditional LOCI.

I think that describes a large portion of the admitted students.

And I know that describes almost all of the TLS NU2013ers.

i am sad.

i have nothing new to say in a loci. i already told them they were my one and only.

I'm sorry, apples. Did you say you'd withdraw all other apps? Anything you're doing at work you can parlay into another LOCI, or has your boss done the career progress thang?

thanks :/. i didn't promise to withdraw other apps, but I promised to attend. I did the career progress eval thang, i went for an interview, and nothing at work is new :(. i guess I'll just have to tell remind them we were meant for each other.

FYI....

I was placed on hold and have NOT received an email stating that a decision has been made. HOWEVER, I just logged into the status checker and opened my decision letter expecting to see the old HOLD decision letter, but turns out I have the new April 22nd WAITLIST decision letter. So...folks who still think they are on hold should go and check their status checker.

thanks, gitls. another TLSer discovered the switch last week. strange that NU still hasn't sent out an e-mail about it.
if you want to scroll back a few pages, we've created a list of stats for the folks still on hold and those who have gone from hold to waitlist. feel free to update it with your data.
are you planning to remain on the waitlist?

I just withdrew. I know there are a few people on here who really want NU; I sincerely hope that one of you gets my spot. Good luck!

I'm staying on the waitlist and very interested in Northwestern. 168/3.6x with 3 years of solid WE of a legal flavor.

Still no response for me. I was held on 3/25. Status checker still has that same decision letter.

Just checked my status check and saw the WL letter. 3.5/169, 2 years solid WE, fairly compelling personal story. However, I feel like I don't have an ice cubes chance at NW. My alum interview was a disaster and my numbers are too low. I'd love to attend, so I guess I should start on that LOCI. How odd that they don't send any kind of email. If I hadn't seen this thread I would know to even check the status.

Edit to add: I was put on hold back in January.

torn because northwestern apparently has no more scholarship funding available. i love chicago, and nw has a fantastic program, but sticker is pretty steep. especially considering $$ from Duke and Michigan...

thoughts?

Just mailed my deposit in today and I'm excited. I'm not taking up anybody here's spot though because I'm starting in fall 2011. I'm really excited about Northwestern though. Good luck, everybody.

Edit: Chi, you should probably take money at a peer school unless you really love Northwestern/Chicago enough to give up that money.

Why was your interview a disaster? Just curious, mine went OK but my Georgetown alum interview was sort of a mess.

I just realized I got waitlisted. Early Feb Hold -> WL 4/22. 169/3.85, ~2 years WE.

I'm REALLY excited about NU and want to practice in Chicago, but Michigan with $$ is clearly better.

But it's MICHIGAN. Ann Arbor is nice, but it's not a city. I love Chicago...I don't know, if it comes down to paying sticker, I might have to just suck it up and pay full tuition at NYU.

Oh, you have NYU too as well. How much does $$ mean?

Unless you specifically want to practice in Chicago or you visited NYU and hated it, NYU is almost always TCR if both are at sticker. Duke and Michigan monies are another matter altogether.

For those of you who went Hold->Waitlist without an e-mail, I called the admissions office today, and they told me that there had been a foul-up with their e-mail system, but the decision from the status checker was accurate. They expect to get the e-mails out soon for people with held applications.

You would fit right in. Trust me.

Also, Northwestern was selected as one of the finalists in the ATL Law Revue competition... but we're losing to Columbia whose video is not nearly as good! Help us out!
