DO IT.
D'oh. There goes another weekend into side projects that will do nothing for me.

I'll start work on Friday night. Maybe I should start a thread for soliciting ideas.
If you take on this project, you are providing a vital public service! If you start the forum, can you give us the link?
No problem. I want to clear it with Ken first just to make sure that he doesn't have any problems with the idea, since it is his forum.

Do we know if it's inappropriate/will hurt your chances to call and check on what's up if you don't hear by week 8? I'm there this week, and they're pretty specific about how long it will take to get you a decision.

Umm...you won't be at 8 weeks till Feb. 1. Just like the rest of us who applied before December 1. Their status checker says if you applied earlier than that, you should start the eight week period at Dec. 1.

So....don't call them till say...the first (if you must; which I discourage).

Everyone complete before 12/1 will get a decision tomorrow! WOOOOO good luck everyone.

(I'm taking the 8 week timeframe as gospel. 12/1+8 weeks =1/26, not 2/1.)

Them too.
beef wellington wrote:12/1+8 weeks =1/26
BTW, this won't actually happen. Last year's LSN indicates they don't view the 8 weeks as a "firm" commitment. Sorry if I got anyone worked up. BUT most everyone heard by 2/10, although some were "held" till late April...has this happened to anyone yet this cycle?

This was my hope too, and I too will be SO SAD if they don't stick to it. If they mean 2 months, then they should say that, not 8 weeks! :(

That impressed me about NU. I don't know a lot about this, but the loan forgiveness after 10 years is available regardless of what school you go to? Only difference is that if you go to NU they will make your payments for those 10 years?

Yeah, the 10-year loan forgiveness is federal.

Georgetown is also doing this: http://www.law.georgetown.edu/finaid/lrap/

The federal LRAP has obviated most of the LRAPs that top schools used to offer, so they are just re-channeling this money to provide something extra on top of the federal program.

To be clear, the 10-year loan forgiveness is a new thing thanks to the Democratic Congress, which passed sweeping student loan reforms in 2007, which went into effect in 2009. Suck it, tea baggers!

This is bad-ass. Thank you for posting, Miranda, you just added a huge element to my thought process about NU.

Nice language. I'm thrilled to know my tax dollars will help repay your debt.

Just found out about that during my interview, very cool.

Also, does anyone know if your interview date has any impact on when they'll complete your application?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
