Northwestern 2010
Post your 2009-2010 cycle Northwestern stuff here if you like.
Anyone heard back from them about file received/complete? If so, how long did it take?

Did people interview before their app was done? If so, could you please share your experience? I'm debating whether or not to keep my interview in October now that I'm retaking in December. Fearful that they'll see my current LSAT score and cause negative impression..

I don't know if you meant that you're waiting for a CRS waiver from NU, but it's my understanding that they only give need-based waivers.MeasuredOptimism wrote:Had an off campus interview on 10/8. Waiting to submit until CRS fee waivers go out in the next couple weeks.

They do give out merit based fee-waivers. I had one from last year that I renewed and used this cycle.msoftceo wrote:I don't know if you meant that you're waiting for a CRS waiver from NU, but it's my understanding that they only give need-based waivers.MeasuredOptimism wrote:Had an off campus interview on 10/8. Ah crap. I wonder if I spent $100 I didn't have to. I emailed them a while back about a waiver and they just directed me to their need-based application.

Just found out I received a hidden fee waiver (yay!) so I immediately submitted my app. I had been putting it off, just hoping....

Re: Northwestern 2010
From everything I've read they put a lot of stock in the interview. Its part of their whole, we value work experience and professionalism thing.whataboutbahb wrote:So how many of you guys are doing the interview? Thoughts on how important this is?
I don't think you have to interview on campus but is it really that hard to schedule an off campus one? That's an easy way for them to screen out the people who really don't care that much.

I'm doing an interview over Christmas break, since Chicago is my home. It seems like it's a big deal.

Re: Northwestern 2010
I have a question then. I absolutely cannot interview. There are no off campus interviews anywhere near my area, and I can't make it up to Chicago. The only free time I have is Christmas break, and I'm leaving pretty immediately for Spain (to study abroad). I don't want to be penalized for not interviewing, any thoughts?

I would recommend writing Why Northwestern and including how you regret you cannot interview, yadda yadda.

Re: Northwestern 2010
did mine off campus a week ago. very casual. it was more like a conversation than an interview. we asked each other questions over coffee and he took a few notes. no "what are your strengths and weaknesses" type questions. but he did ask about my long term goals and why/how law school would get me there.bighead715 wrote:i have a dirt LSAT for NU's standards, but a sweet GPA...interview on 11/6 - how are their interviews? anyone care to share...?sharthree wrote:Sent application in on 10/2; Have interview on Monday; and then am complete. not sure how that differs from the on campus interview.

My off-campus interview was supposed to be today, but it got moved to Thursday. My file is complete (pending the interview).

Re: Northwestern 2010
For those who've already had their interviews and submitted their applications, has the status checker been updated to "Complete" as yet? Mine says application received but does not reflect that the interview has been completed. I was wondering if this was just them taking a while to put those together?

Sent in my app on 10/22, interviewed a couple weeks ago, and have yet to hear a peep from NU.
