the only thing im thinking is that we cant all be definite rejects (yet) because they have clearly reviewed our applications and could have already rejected us in the previous two rounds if they already knew

It's either a waitlist or rejection for us 163'ers unless URM. Maybe one of us will get in if we are lucky but this is highly unlikely.

I always knew I liked you, Mr. Feeny. Even when you over-disciplined Cory and Eric Matthews.

Does that really change how a California school looks at an URM? It just seems impossible to me that a school can't look at the fact that you come from a diverse background. How do you put that out of your mind.

IMHO Prop 209 changes the way they look at URMs completely. They still seek the diversity offered by URMs, but having a URM status alone will not ensure that you will get admitted based on diversity. If you were not able to site specific reasons how your URM status gave you a unique experience and subsequently affected your viewpoint, whether it was through your PS or some other vehicle, then I would wager that they will deem URM status of little importance.-- But that's just my take on it.

I had/am having the same dilemma... I go through it over and over in my mind. I feel like it's worth taking the risk as my chances of getting in are slim anyway... but at the same time, I don't want to annoy anybody. Mind if I PM you a draft and you can tell me if it's too much?

It really is. I'm there with you...except I went UR 11/18. I'm hoping for news today... but I'm seeing this as a good thing until I've been proven wrong.

Watched The Graduate last night and I kept thinking about this thread. I think I need a new hobby.

I think that the detailed socioeconomic questionnaire at the end of the application tries fill the role explicit URM selection played in their decisions before prop 209. Of course that's just a guess. Is anyone here familiar with their older applications?
